Ashley is a senior political commentator for CBS News and an award-winning communications strategist who guides C-suites, campaigns and coalitions through high-stakes societal, reputational and public-affairs challenges. Drawing on more than two decades at the nexus of policy, media and digital strategy, Ashley blends crisis management with persuasive storytelling; her counsel has shaped Fortune 500 boardrooms and national initiatives, including one that secured an affirmative Supreme Court decision.
Previously, Ashley served in the West Wing as Deputy Assistant to President Biden and Communications Director for Vice President Harris; was Communications Director and Senior Advisor to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi—becoming the first woman and person of color to hold that post—and earlier was Special Assistant to President Obama and Communications Director for the U.S. Cabinet. She was recently honored by the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum as the first woman and person of color to serve as the Communication Director for the U.S. Speaker of the House and Vice President of the United States.
