What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever gotten?
“Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” I first heard this as a new professional, and while I could have focused on the literal interpretation, I’ve always considered how this sentiment extends far beyond fashion. It’s about the personal brand I build for myself every day and how the person I am should reflect my ultimate ambition and not be limited to the here and now — even though that is a great place to be too.
What’s your passion outside of the workplace? What are three things it has taught you that transfers to the office?
With three young girls, my weekends are often filled with lacrosse games where you’ll find me cheering on the sidelines with my husband. This stage of life is full and fun, and I love seeing my girls working so hard on the sports they love, determined to improve, fighting to win, yet never losing the JOY of the game. I often think about how their resilience, mindset and determination on the field translate to my experience professionally. How we show up every day is a choice we make. Leaders set the weather. Being the best on the field is less important to me than demonstrating leadership and grit. I tell my girls this every day, and its my professional compass as well.
What’s your favorite way to unwind in your free time?
I’m a true homebody despite my professional life taking me all over the world to meet with teams and clients. When I have the opportunity to unwind, I love nothing more than being home—baking with my daughters, cooking delicious homemade meals, getting lost in a book, or relaxing in front of a fire (my favorite).
What is your most-used app on your phone?
Definitely Instagram. I love all things food, fashion, motherhood and fitness, so I follow influencers in these categories. I’m fascinated by the creator economy and find equal parts inspiration and entertainment from the influencers I follow.
Who is someone that inspires you right now?
I have many sources of inspiration, but I’m learning a lot about leadership and personal brand building from Mel Robbins lately. I saw her speak this year at Cannes and became even more of a fan!
