Job Description:

At Weber Shandwick, we help some of the world’s leading organizations navigate complexity, build trust, and lead through moments that matter. As demand for strategic counsel continues to grow amid geopolitical volatility, macroeconomic uncertainty, stakeholder scrutiny, and the rapid transformation driven by AI, our Advisory offering has become one of the fastest-growing areas of our business.

The Central Region—spanning Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis, and St. Louis—is the second largest P+L in North America and has experienced significant growth over the past several years. We are continuing to invest aggressively in the future of the practice and are seeking an entrepreneurial, growth-minded leader to help shape what comes next.

About the Role

We are seeking an Executive Vice President, Corporate Advisory to lead and expand our Advisory practice across the Central Region. This is a newly created leadership role designed for a true builder and change agent—someone energized by the opportunity to grow a business, counsel senior executives through complex challenges, and help define the future of modern corporate advisory.

This role reports directly to the Central Region President and will play a critical leadership role both within the region and as part of the extended North America Advisory leadership team. The EVP will help advance core specialties including Corporate Reputation, Corporate Storytelling, CEO Advisory, Executive Positioning, and the integration of AI-enabled solutions across our client portfolio.

The ideal candidate is a strategic counselor with strong business instincts, a collaborative leadership style, and a passion for helping organizations and leaders navigate high-stakes environments. They will thrive in ambiguity, make smart decisions with imperfect information, and bring an entrepreneurial mindset to building and scaling teams, client relationships, and innovative offerings.

Equally important, this leader will be deeply invested in culture—someone who values collaboration, mentorship, and excellence, and who is committed to nurturing a high-performing, supportive environment for both clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Central Region Advisory practice across Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis, and St. Louis
  • Serve as a trusted senior counselor to C-suite leaders navigating corporate reputation challenges, transformation, crises, stakeholder engagement, and executive visibility
  • Partner with North America Advisory leadership to evolve and scale offerings across Corporate Reputation, Corporate Storytelling, CEO Advisory, and Executive Positioning
  • Help embed and advance AI-enabled advisory solutions across client programs and internal capabilities
  • Drive business growth through new business development, strategic pitches, client expansion opportunities, and relationship management
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of strategic advisors across the region
  • Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture rooted in excellence, innovation, and accountability
  • Guide integrated teams to deliver high-impact strategic communications programs and flawless execution
  • Identify emerging issues, business trends, and external forces shaping the corporate and stakeholder landscape
  • Partner across practices and specialties to deliver multidisciplinary solutions for clients
  • Participate as a senior member of the broader North America Advisory leadership team, contributing to strategy, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Lead by example through active engagement in agency culture, talent development, and mentorship

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 15+ years of experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs, corporate reputation, executive positioning, management consulting, or related advisory disciplines
  • Experience counseling senior executives and leading complex, high-visibility client engagements
  • Agency and/or consulting experience preferred

Additional Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success building and growing advisory, corporate communications, or reputation management businesses
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and counsel C-suite leaders through ambiguity and change
  • Experience leading crisis and issues management engagements in complex stakeholder environments
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth, lead business development efforts, and expand client relationships
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing, multi-market teams
  • Deep understanding of the evolving corporate landscape, including geopolitical risk, economic pressures, AI transformation, and stakeholder expectations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a builder mentality and passion for creating new opportunities
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on client engagement
  • Collaborative leadership style with a strong commitment to culture and talent development
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a forward-looking perspective on the future of corporate advisory
  • Passion for mentoring the next generation of communications and advisory leaders
