Job Description:

Executive Creative Director

Job Summary

We’re looking to hire a Creative Lead for the New York office. The candidate will report to both the General Manager of the office and the Regional CCO in New York.

The ECD will guide and champion all creative work – including video and social/digital content, vehicle reveal campaigns, and conceptual ideas choreographed to drive earned media and grab consumer attention. You’ll work with planners and strategists to push boundaries and find new approaches for the client’s business, partner with CX’s to lead the account, work closely with sister agencies, and build strong relationships with both marketing and PR clients.

This ideal candidate will:

  • Stimulate creative direction and new approaches, evaluate work based on deep knowledge of the industry’s best, and act in an advisory role throughout the duration of client team projects.
  • Display an industry-leading understanding and application of the principles that make innovative and effective communications, and the digital expertise needed to understand culture-based storytelling across platforms.
  •  Master the earned model by understanding the whole world, not just the world of communications.  Your job is to connect the client to the zeitgeist.  To take a rich world of references – from politics, culture technology and business – into consideration.
  • Deliver recommendations, not just ideas. Recommendations built on experience, understanding of the brand and of the audience, and the context in which the brand operates.
  • Ensure the execution of high-quality work that is on time, on budget, and uses appropriate technology.
  • Lead a team, not police it – with success measured by the growth of the individuals on your team and the culture you build.  Being a good leader is much more difficult than being a good creative — which is why there are far more creatives than leaders in the world.
  • Act as a Career Manager, responsible for guiding creatives of all levels within Weber Shandwick. This includes regular one-on-one check-in’s, writing and delivering annual performance reviews and taking responsibility for on-boarding new employees and guiding them through a successful tenure at Weber Shandwick.
  • Have 10-15 years of relevant experience, including experience in an agency setting.
