We are seeking a strong Senior Manager to join our Earned Media team within our Consumer Practice. You love the thrill of the pitch, building relationships with media, and constantly immersing yourself in pop culture, trends, and the world of sports. As a Senior Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on top-tier brands across a variety of consumer categories, with a focus on bringing stories to life at the intersection of culture, lifestyle, and sports.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience, and work with strategists and creative team members to deliver innovative and integrated programs that earn attention
- Generate story ideas and topic angles, draft media materials, and pitch media to land earned coverage
- Monitor media outlets, understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client, and analyze and distill meaningful insights from media coverage
- Support executive visibility efforts for clients including identifying, pitching and securing interviews and speaking engagements for C-suite
- Develop strategic messaging for clients and support the creation of media plans and proposals that take an integrated approach to driving awareness with target audiences
- Provide thoughtful recommendations for content creation and distribution across multiple channels to support paid, owned and earned channels
- Oversee client activations and programs including cultural/sporting events (e.g. Super Bowl, World Cup, Olympics, etc.)
- Counsel, coach and develop junior staff
- Lead logistics planning for media and other influencer events
- Support the development of KPIs to maximize media relations impact
- Highlight results, measuring success and promoting wins and key learnings to client

Basic Qualifications
- Public relations experience of approximately 5-7 years, agency or in-house
- Experience and/or passion for pop culture and sports
- Fluency in media relations
- Strong existing media and influencer relationships
- Ability to develop new media and influencer relations and turn those relationships into coverage
- Working knowledge of and comfort executing new media forms (e.g. podcasts, Substack, etc.)
- Drafting media materials, including pitches and press releases
- Optimizing programs in real-time to maximize success based on preliminary results
- Amplification of strategies, including paid, owned and earned
- Ability to plan, organize, monitor and control projects and programs, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and creative resources
- Ability to counsel clients on media relations activities and present plans in a convincing manner
- Ability to work effectively with integrated agency teams and diverse range of internal stakeholders
- Strong team leadership abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong negotiation, presentation, collaboration and problem-solving skills
This is a hybrid role tied to our Boston office.
Salary Range: $81,000 USD – $98,000 USD

We are seeking an Account Director to join our Media Relations team within our Health Practice. As a Director, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of media relations as a key member of integrated client teams. You’ll shape communications strategies, craft earned media approaches, and organize best-in-class media outreach that drive results and positive impact. You’ll bring experience working in the health industry with a proven track record of managing branded and unbranded campaigns with media and third parties.
A critical role in our client teams and in our health practice, you’ll be a go-to client contact and supervise large workstreams, junior team members and work to connect dots across business. Other responsibilities include shaping earned-first creative concepts, recommending programs and activities, coordinating with clients’ goals, effectively delegating projects, offering counsel to team members, and allocating agency resources to match client budgets.
Beyond client work, you’ll also engage in our business development process and support activities that support the development of our health media relations function.
The following is a general outline of primary responsibilities.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Day-to-day client support and counsel
- Leading media relations efforts for team including managing junior staff
- Driving communications support around campaigns
- Working across internal and external specialists including media, digital, creative and agency partners
- Providing earned media recommendations across traditional print/online media, newer forms of media, and editorial partnerships

Senior Associate, Earned Media, Healthcare
Weber Shandwick is seeking a Senior Associate, Earned Media (Senior Account Executive equivalent) for its growing health earned media team and healthcare practice.
As a Senior Associate, you will be supporting earned media strategy and driving execution for campaign and product launches, news engine programs, disease awareness initiatives and more for our healthcare accounts. The ideal candidate has experience in or a passion for health-related work, creativity and a foundation of media relations skills. Job description:
- Serve as a key integrated team member in support of strategic earned media campaigns, including developing media relations action plans, goals and objectives, media targets, story angles and outreach approaches, in collaboration with and support from senior media relations team members
- Generate story ideas and drafts media materials (e.g., media lists, written content, pitches and pitching reports), conducts outreach, and manages reporter/influencer relationships and media opportunities to land coverage

- Assist with client communication and manage detailed tasks with the account and earned media teams
- Develop and manage project timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all media internal and client deliverables are met with quality and efficiency
Requirements:
- 2 or more years’ experience in public relations at an agency or corporate in-house (healthcare experience preferred)
- Media relations skills (media monitoring, media list development, pitch development, outreach
- Experience and interest in working with healthcare clients across industries
- Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to multi-task effectively and work within tight deadlines

Salary Range: $70,400 USD – $78,000 USD

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Director, Earned Media with deep beauty expertise to join our Integrated Media team in New York. What You’ll Do
As a Director, you’ll play a leading role in developing and executing earned media strategies for some of the biggest beauty brands in the industry. You’ll be a trusted media partner, expert client counselor, creative storyteller, and mentor to junior teammates.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead Earned Media Efforts: Lead proactive and reactive media outreach to secure high-impact coverage across top-tier beauty, lifestyle, consumer, social-first and trade publications, translating brand strategies into compelling earned storylines that break through with press, consumers, and on social.
- Drive Day-to-Day Client Relations: Serve as a key day-to-day client contact for earned media, confidently presenting strategies, updates, counsel and recommendations while fostering trust through clear, compelling communication.
- Build & Maintain Editorial Relationships: Cultivate strong, ongoing relationships with editors, writers, producers, news-fluencers and emerging media voices — from traditional outlets to non-traditional platforms like newsletters/Substacks, podcasts, and social channels.
- Integrated Planning: Collaborate cross-functionally with IAT partners and external agencies to help shape holistic campaign plans, ensuring earned media is thoughtfully integrated into broader brand, influencer, social, and paid strategies.
- Support Product & Campaign Launches: Develop and manage media strategies for major brand moments — from product & campaign launches and press trips to NYFW, stylist relations, red carpet partnerships, cultural moments and seasonal storytelling.
- Trend Spotting: Stay on top of emerging beauty, wellness, social and pop culture trends; identify real-time opportunities for clients to insert themselves into relevant conversations.
- Press Material Development: Draft and edit compelling media materials, including press releases, pitches, messaging docs, and executive talking points.
- Team Mentorship: Mentor junior staff, providing guidance on pitching, relationship-building, newsjacking and account management.
