About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Recruiter on a 12-month fixed term contract to support our hiring needs in Japan. This role is essential in managing end-to-end recruitment for key roles across the business, particularly within PR, communications, digital, and marketing functions. You will work closely with hiring managers to deliver a seamless and efficient recruitment experience, ensuring alignment with our team culture and talent needs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Recruiter, your focus will be on delivering high-quality recruitment outcomes. Responsibilities include:
- Candidate Sourcing & Engagement
- Use a variety of sourcing methods (e.g., job boards, LinkedIn, referrals) to identify and engage talent for roles across the business.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates, with a focus on the Japanese market.
- Proactively approach and engage passive candidates, especially in communications and marketing industries.
- Recruitment Process Management
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including:
- Drafting and posting job advertisements.
- Screening applications and conducting initial interviews.
- Coordinating interviews with hiring teams and collecting feedback.
- Supporting offer and onboarding processes.
- Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience throughout.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements and ideal candidate profiles.
- Provide timely updates on hiring progress and candidate pipelines.
- Offer market insights and advise on recruitment best practices where needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience, ideally in communications, PR, marketing, or related industries.
- Strong track record of hiring in Japan and familiarity with local talent dynamics.
- Solid sourcing and headhunting skills, including use of social media and job platforms.
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and recruitment tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple open roles with efficiency and professionalism.
- Fluency in Japanese (native or business level) and English (professional working proficiency).

Weber Shandwick is seeking a talented and proactive Senior Manager / Account Director (title commensurate with experience) to join our growing Consumer practice, working with top-tier domestic and global brands across lifestyle, hospitality (hotels & resorts), food & beverage, consumer devices, and consumer goods. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level communications professional who is passionate about developing integrated campaigns that resonate with Japanese consumers. You will work closely with both clients and internal teams to support strategic planning, lead media and influencer outreach, and deliver exceptional results that drive brand impact.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients, managing communications projects and helping to ensure quality execution
- Translate global brand strategies into locally relevant storytelling for the Japanese market
- Lead media and influencer relations efforts, including developing pitches, securing coverage, and building relationships with lifestyle and consumer journalists
- Monitor cultural, consumer, and category trends to identify proactive PR opportunities
- Support campaign planning, project timelines, and reporting, working closely with internal strategy, creative, and digital teams
- Partner with external vendors including event agencies, content creators, and production teams to bring ideas to life
- Manage account budgets and activity tracking with precision
- Contribute to proposal development and assist with new business opportunities
- Help guide and mentor junior staff members, offering feedback and supporting their growth
- Participate in internal workshops and cross-team collaboration to continue building your skills and knowledge
Who Are You?
- 5–7 years of experience in public relations or integrated communications, ideally in a PR agency setting
- Strong interest and/or background in consumer sectors such as lifestyle, hospitality, food & beverage, consumer devices and consumer goods
- Native-level Japanese communication skills, with strong verbal and written English proficiency
- Experience developing and executing media strategies, and maintaining strong relationships with lifestyle and national media in Japan
- Comfortable collaborating with global teams and translating high-level strategies into locally actionable plans
- Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and timelines
- Confident communicator and thoughtful team player who contributes proactively
- Familiar with influencer and digital campaign execution in the Japanese market
- Passionate about cultural trends and creative storytelling

Talent Acquisition Manager, APAC (6 Month FTC - Maternity cover)
About the opportunity:
We are looking for a Talent Acquisition specialist for a 6-month maternity cover, who is passionate about playing a leading role in the delivery of TA projects, as well as being involved in hands-on recruiting. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience, have a creative TA solution-oriented mindset, and a passion to be part of a highly dynamic, fast-moving team, bringing drive, motivation and enthusiasm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting
- Support the SVP, Talent Acquisition APAC & EMEA on senior/strategic hires and play a back-up role to the individual market TA teams, recruiting talent predominantly within our Asia-Pacific markets where required
- Establish close collaboration/partnership with all TA & people team members, along with internal hiring managers + agency MD’s to ensure hiring requirements are met
- Lead strategic market mapping activities, ensuring that the details of quality candidates are maintained and utilized for future vacancies
- Have experience in recruitment systems and the know-how to best utilize their functionality such as Greenhouse and LinkedIn Recruiter
- Ensure that recruitment processes are maintained in line with company policy and best practice for data protection and equal opportunity
- Hold a desire to build your individual and employer brand reputation in the market
TA Projects & Operations
Partner with SVP, Talent Acquisition, APAC & EMEA on cross-regional projects, including (but not limited to);
- Support the build and delivery of TA projects aligned to the people plan including; recruitment systems utilization and development, recruitment marketing, training, EVP development and reporting
- Play a leading role within our mobility program, managing internal vacancy communications in partnership with the US and EMEA.
- Support sustainable hiring efforts, by seeking out available internal resources through smart resource management, partnering closely with colleagues in other markets, including finance, HR and agency leaders
PERSON PROFILE
- 5-7+ years of relevant experience in PR, advertising, integrated marketing and/or within a marketing communications environment
- Previous recruitment experience either in-house or within a search firm (Marketing, PR & Communications agency experience an advantage)
- Experience managing the recruitment processes within a multi-site or international company, ideally within the marketing and communications or media or advertising sector Recruitment systems experience (Greenhouse or similar)
- Developing knowledge of best practice recruitment and selection processes
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective team player
- Takes pride in producing outstanding results and continuous learning

About the role
We are seeking a bright and motivated Executive Assistant with a proven track record and a passion for excellence to support our Managing Director in Japan. In this role, you will be responsible for managing both EA tasks for the MD and managing the Workforce Solutions team of 3 people.
Responsibilities:
- Manage MD’s calendar and schedule, including arranging external and internal meetings with colleagues, clients and business partners, and optimizing their access to MD
- Attend weekly and monthly management meetings to take minutes
- Support administrative tasks around client service, working closely with Team Leaders to consolidate critical information and action items
- Input time in internal time record system on behalf of MD in a timely manner
- Processes expense claims in a timely manner
- Arrange seasons greetings and gifts for colleagues, clients and business partners per MD request
- Act as point of contact for various corporate memberships, creating purchase orders, processing invoices, and ensuring registration information is up to date
- Manage office facilities (company common tools, services, equipment, etc.) and lead a team of 3.
- Manage company common expenses (Digital tools, Software services, etc.) and liaise with Finance
- Plan and operate hybrid (working from office + working from home) work environments
- Select, contract, negotiate and manage outsourcing companies for office services
- Manage facilities, equipment, stationery, business cards, mails, and courier services, etc.
- Support company events for employee engagement
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in EA / Secretarial / General Affairs work in a multinational company
- Native level language skills of Japanese and Business level language skill of English (TOEIC 800 and above)
- Good communicator, with ability to convey information accurately to internal and external stakeholders
- Professional and discrete in handling confidential information
- A proactive problem-solver with interest in business AI tools to streamline the MD’s workflow and approval processes
- Business Communication skills, problem-solving skills, Logical/ Analytic thinking, and abilities to suggest improvements
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and dynamic working environment
- Business level Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. (Familiarity with SharePoint a plus.)
