Weber Shandwick, a leading global communications agency, is seeking a talented and an enthusiastic fall intern in Washington, DC, to work with our Analytics practice.
Our Analytics internship is a full-time, paid program designed to complement and enhance academic studies through participation in a variety of assignments and professional responsibilities. Interns work side by side with the firm’s diverse team of strategists, analysts, producers, designers, developers and campaign activators.
The intern assigned to our analytics team will work on a range of projects from communications reporting and automation to machine learning, and big data integration. You’ll work on clients of all types, using diverse data sets to solve strategic business and communications problems. Our strategy Analytics interns typically meet the following profile:
- Data Strategists: business analysts with basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, and data visualization with a focus on how to use data to tell stories and build business cases
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct, compile, and present analyses to inform the strategic direction of integrated campaigns
- Carry out social media listening research to identify trends in online conversations and to pinpoint key influencers; should have basic comfort with Boolean queries or an interest in learning
- Use web and social media analytics platforms to measure campaign and content performance and provide data-backed recommendations for optimization
- Understand client background and needs, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
- Participate in strategic brainstorming sessions when invited by account leads or supervisors
- Sanitize raw data inputs and perform quantitative analysis in Microsoft Excel
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Availability: 40 hours a week throughout the duration of your internship. Our internship program runs from September – December.
Additional Qualifications: Ideal Analytics intern candidates will possess some combination of the following. Please note: you do not have to have ALL of these qualifications, just some combination of them, in order to be a viable Analytics candidate.
- Interest in data-based storytelling or data journalism
- Basic understanding of intersection of traditional and digital media platforms and familiarity with developments in the media industry
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, time-management, and critical-thinking skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily in Excel and secondarily in PowerPoint
- Experience working with or interest in web analytics, social and traditional media monitoring, and social media analytics platforms
- Experience working with or interest in data visualization tools and creative ways to display information
- Keen eye for data trends and the ability to solve strategic business and communications problems
- Familiarity with developments in the media industry, plus knowledge of a variety of social platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) and the latest news and trends affecting these channels
- Basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, data engineering and data visualization with a focus on how to integrate analytics into marketing and communications strategies
Washington DC Salary range: $20.00 – $20.00

Senior Manager, Analytics
We are recruiting a Senior Analytics Manager who is experienced and passionate about using analytics to help our clients solve their biggest reputational and business challenges via effective communications campaigns. This person will operationalize client briefs into smart measurement research and translate findings into actionable insights that inform client’s communication strategies. This person is expected to work across brand, health, and corporate clients, including tech and public affairs. Day to day responsibilities include managing and leading delivery of audience insights, earned and social listening, and other research. These projects will leverage AI-powered tools to sustainably scale new insight discovery, and ensuring production and delivery of high cadence (daily and weekly) client deliverables that integrate insights from various data streams. This person must have the ability to do quick analyses to respond to new business and client crises. Other responsibilities include the formalization of insights deliverables into slideware, conducting data integrity checks of varied data streams and deliverables, consolidating AI research best practices, and translation of data findings into accessible insights for different partners.
Responsibilities:
- Translate data into client-actionable insights about audiences, channels and culture
- Develop and apply strategic measurement frameworks to uncover insights and takeaways from data across earned, social, owned, and other media sources.
- Partner with teams to service client research and analytics requests, design the approach, lead a team through earned and social media analyses, analyze data to inform strategic planning, and answer questions from internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Utilize emerging tech to improve outputs and client outcomes
- Test and deploy AI-powered analytical tools to analyze client and publicly available data
- Maintain strong knowledge of both well-established and new-to-market digital marketing analytics tools and platforms; specifically syndicated research and social listening platforms.
- Lead teams and reinforce a culture of data + insights
- Manage workloads of teams to ensure delivery of compelling analytics reports and insights that empower client to understand trends and actionable implications of analyses
- Evangelize smart data analytics that inform data-driven decision-making internally and externally with clients and other agency partners
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise and experience translating data and research into strategic insights and recommendations
- 5+ years relevant full-time experience as an independent contributor and 2+ years managing direct report(s)
- Experience engaging and collaborating with clients and internal teams with agency or matrixed analytics team
- Experience in social listening, marketing analytics, digital analytics, multi-channel analyses, AI-powered analytics, campaign performance, and measurement of real-world impact
- Experience analyzing and synthesizing data from first-party and third-party sources
- Ability to work independently and be a collaborative team player who brings unique analytics skills to large client teams
- Desire and capacity to take full ownership of work tracks, manage complicated deadlines and deliverable processes, nurture client relationships, collaborate with strategy and creative teams, and mentor junior analytics staff

California/Washington Salary range: $105,000 – $125,000

Join our team as an AI & Analytics Intern to drive the integration and formalization of AI best practices across our PR analytics, advisory, and product development teams. You’ll work directly with our analytics and innovation teams, experimenting with the latest AI agents and tools, developing systematic approaches to prompt engineering, and building scalable processes for both core deliverables and novel applications. This unique opportunity places you at the forefront of formalizing AI best practices for analyzing client documents, media conversations, audience personas, and outcome measurement, bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI, academic training in AI, and real-world PR application.
The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, machine learning, or AI-related fields, have hands-on experience testing prompts and workflows across AI platforms, and is curious about ways that AI can be embedded within PR, communications, and analytics work. Interest and experience across at least one PR discipline (multichannel media analyses, crisis, influencer, corporate reputation, brand marketing, creative, strategy, analytics, etc.) is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with analytics and innovation teams to document how AI is incorporated within existing workflows, formalize methodologies, iterate prompts to incorporate feedback from human reviewers, and create step-by-step guides
- Test robustness of AI-powered findings across prompts, platforms, and presets through prompt-based and API interfaces
- Translate the implications and impact of technical nuances and ‘under-the-hood’ model calibrations for non-technical teams
- Generate use case summaries, efficacy benchmarks, and case studies
- Monitor and share information on emerging trends, frontier AI tools, solutions, and agents, particularly those with applications in PR
Qualifications:
- Academic training in computer science, large language models (LLMs), or AI-related technical fields
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with natural language processing (NLP) concepts, APIs, code libraries, model evaluation, and automation tools
- Interest in, and ideally academic classes or experience in at least one PR discipline (multichannel media analyses, crisis, influencer, corporate reputation, brand marketing, creative, strategy, analytics, etc.)
- Strong interest in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams focused on AI application and deployment within PR and communication domains
- Basic understanding of data analysis concepts and methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail in documenting, annotating, and markdowns of scripts, prompts, and technical instructions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications
- Strong preference for those who are a recent college graduate, graduate student, or current college senior.

- Must have superior analytical and writing skills, be a proactive communicator, and possess a keen eye for detail.
