Weber Shandwick Chicago has an exciting opportunity for an Account Director to join our Corporate/Enterprise team.

We are looking for an engaging, curious and collaborative person with outstanding client service and interaction skills, as well as proven analysis, writing, strategic planning, media relations and digital/social media acumen to help drive the growth and success of a variety of accounts. 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing public relations action plans; program goals; and earned /social media campaigns, targets and pitch angles that require input from senior team leadership
  • Play day to day account lead for retail, B2B, financial sector and professional services accounts
  • Managing teams and collaborating/responding to clients
  • Researching and writing briefing materials for client executives
  • Writing and editing press materials, key message documents, briefing materials, blog posts and pitch letters
  • Staying abreast of current industry news and trends, and sharing that information with account team members 
  • Developing and managing timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
  • Breaking down and managing detailed tasks with the account team associated with planning and implementing special public relations events such as press conferences and media trips
  • Anticipating and proactively offering solutions to senior team leadership for executional issues specific to assigned programs 
  • Interacting with senior management and providing input into tactics and strategies
  • Cultivate and enhance collaborative working relationships with media through regular communications 
  • Persuasively pitching media and securing high-profile coverage for clients
  • Understanding client objectives and priorities to help shape story angles  

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of communications experience, preferably in an agency environment
  • Understanding of and experience working with professional and financial services companies, financial markets and products is a plus
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • Social media literacy with the ability to identify and recommend social program elements
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Confident and comfortable presenting in front of groups
  • Media relations experience for financial and professional services accounts is a plus

Salary range: $95,000 – $125,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure, maintain, and grow relationships with leading financial services and corporate clients, ensuring Weber Advisory is a trusted partner at the most senior levels.
  • Lead major new business efforts, from identifying opportunities and shaping proposals to orchestrating compelling, integrated pitch teams.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor, counselor, and business partner to C-suite and senior decision-makers in financial services and beyond.
  • Drive exceptional work through the orchestration of high-performing, cross-functional teams across geographies and disciplines.
  • Advance Weber Advisory’s thought leadership in the financial services sector by developing POVs, insights, and visibility for our leaders.
  • Oversee client service delivery including program planning, proactive opportunity creation, and high-level strategic counsel.
  • Identify new growth areas based on emerging trends in financial markets, regulation, ESG, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Mentor and coach rising talent, building the next generation of corporate and financial communications leaders.
  • Maintain profitability and operational excellence across accounts, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and high-quality output.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in corporate communications or public affairs, with significant experience advising financial services organizations (agency experience strongly preferred).
  • Expertise in corporate reputation management, stakeholder communications, and financial industry dynamics, including regulatory environments and market drivers.
  • Strong grasp of traditional, digital, and social media—and how they shape financial sector narratives.
  • Proven ability to counsel senior executives with credibility, clarity, and strategic foresight.
  • A track record of leading and winning new business opportunities in complex, competitive environments.
  • Exceptional leadership skills—able to inspire teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and storytelling abilities, with experience crafting compelling narratives for financial audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, collaborative spirit, and passion for driving client and agency growth.

 

Salary range: $152,000- $215,000

Project Manager

Project Manager

Weber Shandwick is currently seeking a dedicated Project Manager, Integrated Project Management, to join our winning team in Chicago! In this role you will work closely with an integrated team across account, creative, influencer, social, analytics and strategy, as well as report to a Director of Project Management, to lead projects on a growing portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage multiple small to medium-scale integrated campaigns or initiatives, collaborating with internal stakeholders, coordinating with various partners and managing vendors
  • Demonstrate understanding the full project lifecycle from client brief to final delivery
  • Own and manage project lifecycle with extended team, inclusive of scoping deliverables, resource management, hour estimates, timeline development, status reports or hot sheets, and project requirements/processes​
  • Partner with creative, strategy, account management and other internal teams to help drive best-in-class solutions, deliver award winning results and mitigate risk and/or potential overservice
  • Demonstrate strong, professional work ethic and financial acumen
  • Manage financial performance of accounts including scopes, burn report summaries and forecasting
  • Lead internal team members on day-to-day project milestones and deliverables
  • Support in educating the team on roles and responsibilities, process and templates

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of project management experience, preferably in an agency setting
  • Strong financial management skills, including scoping, burn report tracking, resource allocation across project tasks
  • Demonstrated success in managing different types of programs and deliverables, such as strategic planning, creative ideation, events, social and/or digital content and vendor/partner management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with team members across multiple levels and seniority
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and dedicated to driving clarity in complex projects
  • Motivated and curious, a true team player eager to jump in, problem solve and lead teams to success
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project/Smartsheet, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excited by learning new tools to drive efficiencies

Salary range: $71,000 – $85,000

You’ll be responsible for spearheading creative, award-worthy campaigns that resonate with sports fans and stakeholders alike, ensuring our clients capture cultural relevance and media attention.   • Demonstrated expertise in Integrated Media Strategy and Media Relations, particularly within sports, lifestyle, or entertainment industries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience working on large-scale sports activations, sponsorships, or campaigns that integrate earned, owned, and paid media strategies
  • A deep understanding of the sports audience, media landscape, and cultural trends within the industry
