POSITION PROFILE

We are seeking a Copywriter with strong earned, social and conceptual expertise to support our creative team on a freelance basis. We are looking for someone with the right combination of conceptual approach, self-motivation, and writing skills necessary to create, sell, and execute impactful ideas for our clients. They need to be obsessive about big ideas and crafting stories. We are looking for a specific type of person, someone who embodies talent and decency in equal measure.


Responsibilities:

  • Crafting stories and building brands through campaign level thinking and execution
  • Remain current on industry, cultural, and technology trends, and look for opportunities to incorporate them into your creative concepts
  • Work with art directors, designers, strategists, producers and other team members to flesh out the creative development of social media ideas and tactical executions
  • Develop original concepts and executions with the intention of sparking conversation and engagement in the social media space. These ideas can be published across various social media channels, published through influencer channels, or may transcend social media, digital and traditional advertising.
  • Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts, headlines, video scripts, social posts and various other forms of online/offline brand storytelling
  • Presenting ideas and production-ready executions to internal and external stakeholders
  • In all social media-specific concepts, be sure to understand various execution formats and incorporate creative/copy/layout best practices for various social media networks including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Write video-based story ideas with the complete understanding of the types of video formats that work best across various social networks (live, long-form, tap for audio, etc.)
  • Ensure all creative adheres to existing brand guidelines and social media best practices
  • Responsible for editing and proofing materials during all project phases
  • Wear multiple hats: depending on your skills, there will be times when you will have to drive the creative process by playing multiple roles throughout concepting and execution phases

CORE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-5 years of copywriting experience in an agency or related field (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)
  • Must be self-motivated, hard working, well organized, thick skinned and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables
  • Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, trends and philosophies in marketing, technology, interaction and social media
  • Must have a portfolio (share anything that conveys the way you think or approach assignments, even if it was never produced; we like chicken scratches).
  • Bonus Skills: blogging, journalism, social community management

Junior Copywriter

Job Summary

Weber Shandwick Boston is seeking a dynamic and motivated Junior Copywriter to join our growing creative team. The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker and wordsmith with an artistic eye and obsession with grammar and punctuation. In this role, you’ll conceive and write copy for a variety of social platforms, presentations, integrated campaigns, PR materials and more. If you’re a consummate storyteller interested in stepping outside your comfort zone and diversifying your portfolio, we’d love to talk to you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop creative concepts and copy for a variety of media, including (but not limited to): paid and organic social posts, ads, PR materials, presentations, scripts, gifs, memes, infographics and more
  • Write copy for a variety of social platforms, such as IG, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Reddit, etc.
  • Collaborate with art directors, designers, strategists, producers and other team members to bring ideas to life
  • Translate product information and technical language into engaging customer-friendly copy
  • Ability to adapt writing style and tonality to appeal to different audiences
  • Edit and proofread copy for presentations and posts
  • Present your own creative work internally to teammates
  • Assist creative leads in organizing, attending and directing external agency partners in still and video production
  • Ensure all creative adheres to brand guidelines
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of product features and benefits
  • Incorporate feedback from Creative Directors, teammates, clients and legal department with precision and a positive attitude

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a portfolio (may include spec work, college work and creative writing)
  • Passion for creative writing, social media and digital-first thinking
  • Self-motivated, organized and deadline-driven
  • Great sense of humor that translates into meme, gif and social copy
  • In tune with social trends and emerging techniques for storytelling and brand expression
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry is preferred (not mandatory).
  • Willingness to push creative boundaries
  • Able to prioritize and manage own time
  • Bonus skills: content creation, community management and/or blogging
