Job Description:

The NA head of analytics and market research strategy for corporate affairs, will serve as the region’s most senior market research and analytics strategist supporting corporate affairs and public affairs practices and BSF brands (KRC Research, Powell Tate, United Minds, Myriant, WS CA and PA), providing strategic counsel to clients, driving innovation and new offerings in partnership with KRC Research and A+I across CA and PA, providing insights for new business pitches and helping build our reputation as the leading corporate practice in North America.  

The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience selling and marketing scaled custom analytics and research solutions to sophisticated corporate communications and C-Suite clients. They will be curious, organized, methodical, and proactive. They will have deep functional expertise in research, data and analytics combined with a passion for translating and connecting these insights into solutions.

Responsibilities  

This leader will be responsible for ongoing development of the insights suite that powers our Corporate affairs and public affairs value proposition. They will ensure narrative intelligence is seamlessly integrated end-to-end into our corporate work and remit and will work with BSF finance leaders in the region on pricing strategies to drive profitable growth. They will work with KRC Research leaders, product leads, and A+I leaders across CA and PA to design integrated analytics and insight offerings across primary and secondary research resources/approaches and ensure the agency has the right vendor partners, licenses and subscriptions for efficient and high quality quantitative and qualitative research & analysis. They will provide senior counsel to top tier CA/PA new business opportunities, including proactive targets, and make recommendations regarding research investments for priority business pitches.  

 

They will play a leading role in recruiting new talent as well as training and skills building. They will build relationships with key stakeholders as well as Major Engagement Council CXLs to proactively identify new business opportunities, conduct thought leadership and use research to open new doors for growth.  

Requirements 

  • 15+ years of related professional experience within an agency, consulting or corporate setting (15+ research experience; 10+ analytics experience)
  • proven ability to counsel Fortune 100 clients;
  • Talent development experience and skill in building, leading, coaching, and motivating research and analytics teams 
  • Ability to derive relevant insights from diverse sources of data, both qualitative and quantitative, including published sources, syndicated data, and proprietary data, and then translating those insights into specific media strategies and recommendations 
  • Political or public affairs experience at federal or state level; Experience with crisis and issues management, reputation building and investor relations
  • Ability to design research, analyses, and test plans to explore hypotheses such as optimizing communications regarding creative and channel mix
  • Passion for innovation and technology
  • Behavioral Science experience is a plus

Skills

  • Experience directly conducting primary research (either qualitative or quantitative) end-to-end (i.e., designing, fielding, analyzing and reporting out data)
  • Experience using media/marketing intelligence, social listening or other research tools such as: Talkwalker, Brandwatch, GlobalWebIndex, NewsWhip, Meltwater, Cision, Quid, Affinio, Simmons/MRI and/or Comscore
  • Experience with data visualization tools and approaches (e.g., Tableau, Datorama, Google Data Studio) for reporting and dashboards 
  • Experience using desktop applications and software used for data/statistical analysis, manipulation and visualization including Tableau, Python, R, SAS, SQL, is a plus 
  • Experience using standard office productivity tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is expected 
  • Hands-on experience in managing data and data mining 
  • Ability to develop frameworks for steering complex insight/analytics projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with major in business or STEM preferred
  • 1-3 years of full-time experience; prior marketing analytics or consulting experience is a plus
  • Strong interest and capacity to translate data and research into strategic insights and recommendations
  • Passion for working with data and deriving insights to answer client business questions.
  • Ability to manipulate and leverage large scale data leveraging tools including but not limited to Tableau, Google Data Studio, Domo, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with social listening tools such as Quid, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, and Trendkite is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in an integrated team setting.
  • Experience with PowerPoint

NYC Salary range: $52,000- $60,000

We are seeking a strategic thinker with a strong analytical mind to help compile and analyze data, and extract deep insights using the approaches, systems and tools we are designing in-house and have licensed from third parties. You will be able to leverage data to uncover insights and tell compelling stories.

 

The Analytics Manager will join the Chicago Global Intelligence team to focus on delivering insightful and impactful analytics core to the marketing and communications objectives of our clients.

 

The position will directly report to and work with the Chicago office but may support teams across all North American practice areas. This position will be dedicated to several of Weber Shandwick’s largest and most important client relationships.  

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead day-to-day project delivery, coordinating with clients and the rest of your Weber Shandwick teammates to establish partnerships and prove value/ROI, infusing all aspects of the work with data-driven insights and measurement
  • Work with Global Intelligence teammates to create visually compelling reporting and insights that allow clients to easily evaluate communications, media and/or site performance relative to business objectives.
  • Team up with data scientists and senior intelligence leads to design and develop analyses, identifying and articulating insights and building narratives that move internal and external audiences to act on our recommendations.
  • Evangelize the use of data to inform decision-making at all levels internally and externally.
  • Interrogate multiple sources of information/data to look for trends within social and earned media, using tools such as Talkwalker, Quid, and Trendkite.
  • Fully utilize tools and platforms designed to automate and accelerate data collection, integration and analysis. Examples: Google Analytics, Domo, Google Data Studio, Tableau, etc.
  • Leverage a variety of descriptive and inferential statistical methods to analyze data from multiple online sources.
  • Manage reporting tasks and data flows for media, site and social listening insights and reporting.
  • Educate non-technical account team members on key requests and analysis process.
  • Manage and build relationships with clients and internal account management teams
  • Participate in business development activities, including scope design, strategic analysis, slide preparation  and work planning

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong interest and capacity to translate data and research into strategic insights and recommendations
  • Passion for working with data and deriving insights to answer client business questions.
  • Experience with social listening tools such as Quid, Brandwatch, and Trendkite is a plus.
  • Able to leverage scripting to automate analyses, data cleansing or data integration tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree with major in business or STEM preferred, Masters is a plus.
  • 4-7 years relevant full-time experience; preferably in Marketing Science, Marketing Analytics, Data Science or Performance Marketing fields.
  • Ability to work independently and in an integrated team setting.
  • Strong communication (written and presentation) skills.
  • Commitment to learning and the drive to take initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with working in and contributing to a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Desire and capacity to take full ownership of work tracks and mentor more junior staff.
