The Weber Shandwick Technology practice is seeking an Associate to join its growing West Coast team.

We are seeking a curious, ambitious, and detailed-oriented client and media practitioner who is passionate about technology and how it’s fundamentally transforming the way we live and work. The ideal candidate has experience working on technology (especially B2B tech) media relations/campaigns, conducting traditional and social/digital media outreach and developing communications materials. A keen interest in the rapidly evolving media ecosystem—across news, creators, social feeds, and algorithms—is a must.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients and assists in client communications, including developing and coordinating routine account management materials, including timelines, activity reports, etc.
  • Develop communication and media materials, and conducts media outreach (social media posts, fact sheets, pitch emails, backgrounders)
  • Develop targeted media lists and learn/follow clients’ priority media: top-tier, trade, a diverse mix of social influencers, etc.
  • Draft content to reach consumers and B2B tech buyers through targeted earned, owned and paid efforts
  • Supports creative ideation and planning on a consistent basis and provides thoughtful recommendations
  • Conduct research and media audits independently
  • Deliver accurate and timely media monitoring and campaign results reports to reviewer
  • Participate in client meetings, accurately capture meeting notes, next steps
  • Proactively contribute to inclusive team culture and consistently display behaviors that support integration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years Technology and/or PR/Media agency experience (including internships) preferred

Additional Qualifications:

  • Interest in technology, particularly enterprise technology & AI subsectors
  • Stays ahead of shifts in the media ecosystem
  • Professional demeanor
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously
  • Can prioritize multiple tasks and manage time in a consistent manner
  • Experience with coordinating vendors and external partners
  • Some experience of working directly with clients
  • Resourceful and effective problem solver
  • Experience pitching technology media and securing stories
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite

Salary Range: $52,000 USD – $55,000 USD

Senior Associate, Earned Media, Consumer Brand Practice

Weber Shandwick is seeking a Senior Associate, Earned Media to join our Integrated Media team on the West Coast.

As a Senior Associate, you will be supporting campaign development and execution for global campaigns, events and partnerships, driving awareness, reach and engagement for a global client. The ideal candidate is deeply immersed in consumer culture including lifestyle, entertainment, fandom and sports, and brings a strong point of view on what’s trending across media, social platforms, and the broader cultural landscape.

Job description:

  • Serves as a key integrated team member in support of global campaigns, including developing and maintaining action plans, goals and objectives, media materials and campaign strategies in collaboration with and support from senior team members
  • Generates ideas and drafts materials (e.g., announcements, written content, press Q&A, proposals and reports), across a range of consumer and corporate programs
  • Research media topics, cultural trends, important issues, and the media landscape in support of new assignments and projects
  • Attends client events and manages on-site media and influencers at local and national events
  • Maintains a keen interest in current news and cultural trends; proactively shares insights with teams and clients to inform plans, strategies and activations
  • Anticipates and proactively offers solutions to senior team leadership for executional issues specific to assigned programs
  • Actively engages in daily client communication and manages detailed tasks with the account and client teams
  • Develops and manages project timelines, call agendas and recaps as well as integrated weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
  • Is highly collaborative and thrives in an environment where they work with a range of more junior and senior team members

Requirements:

  • 2 or more years’ experience in public relations at an agency or corporate in-house consumer experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience and interest in working with consumer and lifestyle client’s Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary Range: $70,400 USD – $76,000 USD

Senior Associate, Corporate Advisory

Weber Shandwick is looking for a talented client and media practitioner to join our corporate advisory practice. In this role, you will be responsible for thinking across channels and disciplines to manage integrated engagements for an exciting mix of accounts, including flagship technology, health & wellness and CPG clients. 

You will help bring our clients’ business objectives to life through creative earned, owned, and paid activations. You’ll engage with clients and colleagues around the world, help develop junior team members, establish trusting relationships with clients, and participate in new business development. 

Responsibilities 

CLIENT AND WORK 

  • Liaises with clients and assists in day-to-day communications and account management, including organizing client meetings, developing timelines, activity reports, and other key client documentation.
  • Supports a variety of strategic initiatives on client accounts, including assisting in the development and execution of strategic executive communications and visibility plans, corporate issues management, landscape intelligence research, and corporate storytelling campaigns.
  • Manages and executes key media relations deliverables, including media list creation, pitch development, press releases, reporting, and content creation.
  • Supports campaign and program development by conducting relevant research and contributing creative ideas to media activations, planning meetings, and team brainstorms.
  • Continually builds understanding and knowledge of clients’ business, competitive landscape, and industry trends to provide thoughtful recommendations.
  • Partners with diverse, cross-functional teams to ensure strong execution of programs in support of client business objectives.
  • Supports influencer identification, coordination, and management in partnership with our internal experts.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and develops client coverage reports, leveraging industry measurement and listening tools to identify opportunities for growth and strategic evolution.

  • Contributes to the work plan of junior team members and helps guide their work.
  • Serves as a role model to team members, producing high-quality work and continually updating managers on activity progress.

Qualifications 

  • BA or BS in Journalism, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 2-3  years of relevant experience in communications, events or media relations, roles
  • Experience supporting communications programs, either in an agency or in-house setting.
  • Knowledge of and interest in business and the corporate landscape. Keen interest in following policy, media, and macroeconomic trends.
  • A strong writer capable of crafting compelling narratives for various audiences.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with strong project coordination skills and the ability to drive projects from start to finish.
  • Demonstrates solid media relations skills, including experience with media monitoring, building media lists, and pitching. Comfortable building relationships with top-tier business and industry trade outlets.
  • A critical thinker and confident communicator who is solutions-oriented and connects the dots between different workstreams. 

Salary Range: $70,400 USD – $76,000 USD
