What’s happening?

We are looking to appoint an experienced, ambitious and energetic Vice President (Associate Director) to join the leadership team within our Consumer practice in Manchester. You will have a natural motivation to deliver award-winning creative work that is original, thought-provoking and conversation starting. Alongside this, your strong leadership skills will help to develop talent within the team, delivering quality work that sets industry benchmarks. In this role, you must be able to demonstrate how you create exciting, ground-breaking consumer PR and social ideas to deliver outstanding results.

As a Vice President, you will have a proven track record of overall responsibility for managing a large team and budget, the ability to be one step ahead, to plan and anticipate, as well as having a great eye for detail. A key requirement for this role will be your ability to build strong client relationships and drive new business. You will be responsible for working closely with clients and account teams to lead strategic planning and overseeing innovative communication campaigns.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for strategy development, campaign development and implementation
  • Day to day senior client counsel
  • Successfully manages client expectations, team resources, and deliverables around major campaigns and projects
  • Experience of working on integrated campaigns and across interagency teams
  • Financial responsibility: monthly planning and reconciliation
  • Team leadership, coaching and developing talent

Who are you?

  • Extensive Consumer PR experience to at least Account Director / Senior Account Director level, gained within an agency
  • Strong senior client counsel/internal stakeholder counsel experience, strategic communications and business development experience
  • Proven writing experience that is adaptable across channels
  • Strategic, multichannel experience – ability to understand audiences and plan campaigns
  • International experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage a team – strong leadership and management skills are essential
  • Crisis communications/issues management experience
  • Passionate about storytelling and developing original and compelling content for clients
  • Strong interest and POV on the changing landscape of PR and how people learn about and engage with brands

What will you be doing?

  • Build client relationships by providing counsel to multiple clients, driving execution of tactical plans to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Successfully manages client expectations, team resources, and deliverables around major campaigns and projects.
  • Serve as an active participant in client meetings and presentations; crafts, presents, and executes integrated communications strategies for major campaigns.
  • Conduct and manages the flow of research and materials development necessary to analyse client issues.
  • Function across disciplines with a knowledge of social media strategies and tactics.
  • Monitor media outlets for coverage of client and competitor news, leveraging digital and social outlets, a diverse set of influencers, etc.
  • Understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client.
  • Compose media materials (press releases, pitch notes, client briefings, messaging documents, sample Q&A, proposals, bylined articles, supporting social content, etc.) and conducts media outreach.
  • Proof and edits client-related documents.
  • Develop and builds relationships with media
  • Brainstorm and brings to life compelling ideas for clients and media.
  • Lead teams to conduct pressing research on a wide range of issues, reviews and prepares executive summaries and/or analyses of information into strategic and actionable recommendations.

Who are you?

  • Already working as a Senior Manager or Account Director in a PR agency.
  • Proven experience within media relations planning for consumer clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to translate client needs into effective project plans.

A snapshot of the role:

Weber Shandwick is looking for a talented Senior Associate to join the Corporate team in our Manchester office. The practice is made up of a smart, dedicated and fun team with expertise spanning B2B, Corporate, FMCG, Public Affairs, Crisis/Issues, Social Impact/ESG and Technology.

The ideal candidate is someone with around two-three years’ experience, and who is curious, ambitious, proactive and friendly. The role offers a portfolio of diverse and well-known brands, as well as work on integrated campaigns involving earned media, strategy, creative, analytics and digital specialists. You’ll support the day-to-day running of accounts, support in the development of campaign and media strategies, and manage the flawless execution of activities, from content development to media outreach to reporting

While we’re looking for a corporate practitioner, the beauty of our agency is that there is plenty of opportunity to grow your skills in different areas – whether that’s diving into digital and design, or an appetite to engage more in public affairs. What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and oversee the execution of media/campaign strategies
