Weber Shandwick Partners with Sundance, YouTube to Bring Film Festival Live to Audiences Worldwide
Weber Shandwick announced today it is the official producer, content creator and director of the Sundance Film Festival’s first daily live streaming show, Live@Sundance, partnering with the Sundance Institute and YouTube to extend the Festival experience and increase accessibility to fans and aspiring filmmakers both inside and outside of Park City, Utah.
Utilizing Weber Shandwick’s award-winning GoLive production and content creation expertise, Live@Sundance will extend the 2014 Sundance Film Festival experience and provide unprecedented access to fans and aspiring filmmakers both inside and outside of Park City, Utah.
The New York Times featured the effort in a story this morning, highlighting the partnership and “the growing efforts by agencies that specialize in tasks like advertising and public relations to expand further into the realm of content creation beyond mainstays like making television commercials or putting on satellite media tours.” In speaking to The New York Times, Weber Shandwick President Gail Heimann explained Live@Sundance as “an extraordinary chance to showcase what we’re doing.”
Live@Sundance will capture the unscripted and unexpected moments that happen at the Festival, including exclusive access to premieres, panels, discussions and events at the Sundance Film Festival; clips from the Festival’s competing films, shorts and artist exhibits; a behind-the-scenes experience into the 2014 Sundance Film Festival; and a mix of emerging and notable filmmakers on-air. YouTube Creators will join as featured hosts of Live@Sundance, including Shira Lazar, host and co-founder of the award-winning interactive media brand “What’s Trending”; Casey Neistat, an American film director, producer and creator of the HBO series “The Neistat Brothers”; and Jimmy Conrad, host of “KICKTV.”
With interactive audience participation, Live@Sundance changes audiences from viewers to participants. Audiences can participate in the show via social media to ask questions and share ideas — enabling anyone, anywhere to be a part of the Live@Sundance interactive program.
To participate in the Live@Sundance program, tune in to YouTube.com/SFF from January 17-24 each day at 11 a.m.-12 p.m. MST and engage on Twitter using #sundance #live.
