The Position: 

 

The Global Corporate Crisis and Issues Practice is seeking a Senior Manage in our New York office.  

 

What we are seeking: 

 

We are looking for a mid-level practitioner to help us grow our Global Crisis and Issues Practice and support a wide array of high-profile clients with crisis preparedness and planning activities, crisis simulations and live crisis response. You have extensive crisis communications and issues management experience, preferably across multiple industries, but with a greater focus on pharmaceutical, biotech, health system and other healthcare clients. Experience helping clients navigate cyberattack communications is a plus. 

 

You will play an important role on our team, helping lead a broad range of projects, develop new business opportunities, and mentor and grow the skill sets of emerging talent in our practice. The nature of the work also requires an ability and eagerness to juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment, both inside and outside traditional work hours. Candidates should have agency background, expertise in digital/social media and a demonstrated track record of supporting high-stakes crisis communications projects.

What you will be doing:  

 

  • Support a range of issues and crisis communications situations for companies and organizations, including, but not limited to: 
  • Misinformation Management 
  • Product safety issues and recalls. 
  • Geopolitical, political and societal issues 
  • Regulatory compliance issues 
  • Workplace culture matters 
  • Cybersecurity and data breach issues 
  • Litigation defense 
  • DEI-related matters 
  • Investigative reporting 
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact – flagging, triaging, and directly managing client issues as they arise. 
  • Develop and draft crisis plans, media strategies, materials (e.g., reactive media statements, talking points, FAQs, stakeholder communications), memos, crisis simulations and other deliverables as needed. 
  • Train and motivate emerging talent and help create opportunities for their growth. 
  • Oversee and execute complex research and narrative intelligence projects to guide client strategy. 
  • Provide regular counsel to clients and colleagues. 
  • Keep client programs on schedule and ensure all deadlines are met within budget parameters. 
  • Participate in new business development for the team and collaborate among practice areas at the agency in support of broader new business pitches that include a crisis and issues component. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or 5-7 years of relevant experience in an agency/strategic consulting firm, political campaign, or at a company in the healthcare sector. 
  • Experience directly counseling clients/senior ranking executives through a broad range of crises, issues and special situations, with preference for those in the healthcare sector. 
  • Experience with corporate reputation, brand management and protection through integrated communications programs. 
  • Familiarity with the latest digital trends in social media strategy, tools, and analytics – including generative AI tools. 
  • Experience creating issues and crisis preparedness programs (e.g., protocol, scenario plans, simulations drills, workshops and media trainings)  
  • Experience with cybersecurity event and litigation matter communications. 
  • Communicates clearly, analytically, and persuasively both orally and in writing. 
  • Proficient understanding of best practices in corporate communications and crisis and issues management. 
  • Skilled crisis and issues media relations strategist and practitioner with top-tier media relations experience. 
  • Thrives under pressure and can handle multiple projects in a demanding, deadline-oriented environment. 
  • Exercises exceptional judgment when working with clients, team members, and vendors. 
  • Pays close attention to detail and quality of work product. 
  • Adept at solving problems and resolving conflicts. 
  • Capable of mobilizing and motivating teams, anticipating needs, and instilling confidence. 
  • Experience delivering media and crisis training is a plus.

NYC Salary range: $100,000 – $115,000

The right person for this role has:

• 18+ years of experience in PR, inclusive of Agency experience leading, driving and executing Crisis and Issues

• Deep knowledge and experience in cyber security, public affairs, litigation support, regulatory, labor and brand safety, corporate affairs, corporate reputation, executive visibility, social impact as well as crisis communication

• Exposure to leading edge technology, analytics and data that improves the ability to deliver impactful communications and insights to C-level clients.

• Proven track record of proactively identifying and delivering strategic opportunities that unlock account growth beyond the current or ‘expected’ remit

• Exceptional client service track record with ability to counsel and interact effectively with C-suite and senior management at client organizations • Ability to efficiently manage cross-office teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and target audiences, and working in close collaboration with our Creative, Insights and Client Experience teams, lead the creation and execution of integrated multi-platform campaigns that drive meaningful results
  • Build social influencer strategies cross-functionally to align strategic efforts and priorities, and be able to develop strategic outputs with little to no oversight. Collaborate closely with strategy, creative, paid and larger integrated agency teams to deliver program initiatives.
  • Closely partner with social platform and digital SMEs to stay at the forefront of technology trends and emerging platforms to champion social and digital innovations and continuously further our offerings to break through social clutter and break through in earned media
  • Provide strong counsel to clients and colleagues on social/digital/influencer best practices
  • Play a key role in the agency’s Influencer center of excellence, which develops and manages key relationships with talent agencies and content creators, and institutionalizes a set of best-in-class tools and processes for identification, contract negotiation, content planning, measurement and ROI analysis
  • Collaborate effectively with inter-agency teams to develop holistic plans and fully integrated strategies for our clients
  • Grow, mentor and develop junior team members 
  • Experience directly managing and performance championship of staff or team

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience, preferably within an agency environment
  • Strong understanding of the overall media and social landscape, with an emphasis on digital experience

Senior Manager, Analytics

We are recruiting a Senior Analytics Manager who is experienced and passionate about leveraging analytics to inform and empower effective communications campaigns for clients.   This person will be skilled in operationalizing client questions into smart measurement research and translating best-in-class analytics findings into actionable insights that inform client’s communication strategies and measure campaign effectiveness. This person would have the opportunity to work with federal agency clients as well as corporate accounts focused on corporate reputation and public affairs. Day to day responsibilities include managing two analysts and leading delivery of social listening and campaign performance reports in close collaboration with client, strategy, and creative teams. Other responsibilities include the formalization of insights deliverables, conducting data integrity and quality checks of varied data streams and deliverables, and translation of data findings into accessible insights for different partners. This position reports to the head of the analytics team in DC and is dedicated to work on some of Weber Shandwick’s largest and most important client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with teams to service client research and analytics requests, design the approach, lead a team through the analysis, and answer questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage workloads of two analysts to ensure delivery of compelling analytics reports and insights that empower client to easily evaluate social listening topics, media trends and digital analytics relative to business objectives.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Maintain strong knowledge of both well-established and new-to-market digital marketing analytics tools and platforms; specifically syndicated research and social listening platforms.
  • Evangelize smart data analytics that inform decision-making at all levels internally and externally with clients and other agency partners

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience translating data and research into strategic insights and recommendations
  • 5+ years relevant full-time experience as an independent contributor and 2+ years managing direct report(s)
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with federal government clients, ideally in agency or matrixed analytics team
  • Experience and subject matter expert in social listening, marketing analytics, digital analytics, campaign performance, and/or measurement of real-world impact
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing data from first-party and third-party sources
  • Experience analyzing and advising paid, earned, owned, and influencer media strategies
