Role Description – Title: Sr. Vice President – Media Relations
Location: Gurugram
Reporting to: MD
The Role:
The role will be responsible for the overall media quotient in the India market with specialization in multiple categories (TV/Print/Online Media/Regional/News Aggregator Services).
Your work will need you to:
– Manage your team of media specialists
– Strengthen the agency’s earned media prowess
– Advise clients and staff across the spectrum
– Lead during crisis situations
Ultimately, we are looking for a seasoned media super specialist who is a committed team player and a problem solver.
Some of the responsibilities includes but not limited to:
– Media outreach and deliveries for PR Campaigns: Developing strong and robust Media Relations with Print, TV Channel, online, online media and vernacular press across domains
– Crisis Mitigation: Exhibiting quick-time response for crisis management and message driven Crisis Communication to strategize countermeasures in a variety of crisis
– Generate opportunities, and coordinate client engagements with key media houses as and when required – depending on the needs of the client mandate
– Helping all critical media interventions, contacts and influence during a crisis on all accounts
– Being a strategic advisor to large clients and help them navigate their issues through relationships and understanding we bring to the table
– Contributing to overall media outcomes on large clients across the Weber Shandwick India network by proactively reaching and engaging with teams and team heads and developing large format stories to ensure impact and outcomes – cover stories, large format interviews and op-eds.
– Counsel the practice teams on the media trends and happenings
– Develop and manage strategic media programs which result in high ROI for clients as well as the agency
– Pan- India team coordination including network/ affiliates/ stringer
Technical & Business Skills:
• 12/15+ years leading multiple clients and programs with extensive experience in media coverage and media crisis management for large clients having a local and global presence
• Strong expertise and knowledge of the industry: Depth and Breadth of Media Experience – Knowledge and understanding of the changing media landscape, strong relationships with the key media houses, desk editors, senior editors and the network to access the right media for the right outcomes
• Strong relationship with media and deep understanding of media platforms and emerging trends
• Understanding of clients and ability to pitch stories
Other Skills:• Being able to scrutinize data and analytics
• Understanding of influencer space
• Proven team management experience

- Impeccable AP Style writing skills
- Curiosity and a desire to learn more about the auto industry, related car culture topics, our client’s products and their competitors
- An understanding of how the storytelling – and media – landscape has evolved
- Draft and send monitoring reports
- Conduct thorough, meaningful research on OEM products and competitors
- Collaborate with clients and subject matter experts to draft press materials
- Assist with media asset development, including gathering content and ideation
- Media pitching – ability to ideate stories, curate a media list, and report out on coverage received and media reception
- Identify appropriate targets (auto media, lifestyle media, tech media, influencers and thought leaders) and curate stories that garner earned media coverage
- Ability to develop media relations action plans, including goals and objectives, media targets, story angles and outreach approaches, in collaboration with and support from senior media relations experts
- Persuasively engage media and earn high-profile coverage for client partners
- Help develop and manage timelines and action plans to ensure deadlines are met
- Manage detailed tasks associated with planning and implementing special public relations events
- Proactively offer insights and collaboration with media relations teammates about media observations, changes with media contacts, programs and/or formats Interact with variety of client facing teams, analytics, creative and integrated media experts, with input on media relations strategies and tactics
- Manage your time efficiently
- Contribute to internal agency activities, volunteer efforts and programs aimed to enhance and foster a dynamic and inclusive workplace where people can be their authentic selves

Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of communications experience, preferably in a dedicated media relations environment
- Strong media relations skills and relationships with national, regional and local levels and across platforms
- Previous consumer goods/brands and related industries experience
- Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Open to giving and receiving constructive and respectful feedback in a timely manner
- Desire to continuously learn new skills and knowledge, and willingness to share skills and knowledge with fellow team members, as well as client partners
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communication, journalism, or a related field, though specific academic study is not required in lieu of work experience.
Detroit Salary range: $58,700 – $62,000
