Weber Shandwick is looking for a creative, media-savvy Senior Manager with strong client and project management skills to join our Technology practice in New York.

You’ll work with a fun and passionate team supporting a range of B2B technology clients, driving earned-first storytelling that helps break down complex topics into stories that resonate. If you are fluent in today’s dynamic media landscape, have an interest in emerging technology trends like AI and are interested in growing client management skills, this role is for you!

The ideal candidate is someone who has previous project and junior team management experience, can help manage client engagements, has experience or an interest in global campaign coordination, has experience with B2B tech storytelling – with experience in AI-driven narratives a plus – with an understanding of the tech media landscape, and who brings existing media relationships and is interested in building more.

Responsibilities 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide day-to-day internal and client-facing workstream leadership
  • Oversee other team member’s media work, to foster excellence and success
  • Support client leadership team with internal and client-facing operations to help track against priorities, campaign deliverables and overall client alignment
  • Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience
  • Stay current on new and existing media coverage, as well as reporter moves and how to leverage for relationship building
  • Source earned media results on behalf of the client – this includes identifying appropriate contacts, writing pitches, developing media lists, making follow up calls, etc. and overseeing junior team members with execution
  • Monitor media outlets to understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client
  • Analyze and distill meaningful insights from media coverage
  • Support creative ideation on a consistent basis and provide thoughtful, proactive recommendations for storytelling initiatives

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support day-to-day execution of public affairs and communications strategy.  
  • Develop and execute bespoke public affairs plans to meet clients’ policy, legislative, regulatory or reputational needs in a rapidly evolving environment. 
  • Craft messaging, content, and advocacy materials that align with client objectives. 
  • Research, analyze, and provide timely recommendations on a variety of legislative, regulatory, and political developments – and media trends – that impact clients. 
  • Own key pieces of client projects requiring research, writing, analysis, and creative thinking. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, serving as an integral part of ensuring we deliver our best work and exceed client expectations. 
  • Integrate media strategy, paid and social media tactics, and stakeholder engagement to influence policy and legislative outcomes. 
  • Support new business proposal development to expand the agency’s client base. 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

What We’re Looking For 

  • 5-8 years of professional experience in public affairs or communications agencies, Capitol Hill, Executive Branch agencies, political campaigns, media, advocacy, or similar organizations. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications, research, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Proven track record of working on complex client accounts (or related issues) and delivering successful advocacy and media campaigns. 
  • Fluency in social media and a strong understanding of the new media landscape. 
  • A curiosity for and/or experience in AI tools for research, writing, and brainstorming ideas. 
  • A voracious consumer of news, closely following national politics, public policy, and political culture. 
  • Understanding of federal policymaking, political dynamics, and regulatory processes, as well as what breaks through the media landscape. 
  • Ability to support and mobilize fast-paced, highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • A fast learner who can quickly get up to speed on any public affairs topic. 
  • Resilient mindset, deep curiosity, and a healthy sense of humor. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • A network of contacts and relationships across media, Hill staff, think tanks, and/or other DC stakeholders.

We Are Seeking:

We are looking for a driven, self-motivated and culturally fluent, Vice President to join our Consumer team, working across global lifestyle and CPG brands. As Vice President, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day business and spearheading high-profile, award-worthy, earned-driven integrated campaigns for two of some of our top clients including Nespresso & Unilever W&C brands. We’re looking for a dynamic, self-motivated Senior Vice President to join our Consumer Practice, working across global lifestyle and CPG brands. You will spearhead high profile, award-worthy, earned-driven integrated activations and productions for one of our top alcohol clients, famous for delivering industry-leading creative activations throughout the year. Working in a dynamic agency-client model, you will work with high profile celebrity talent, influencers and oversee global experiences for fans. You will be responsible for managing client and inter-agency relationships, playing a critical role in determining the future and long-term success of not only this business, but also our Consumer Practice. You will be responsible for all aspects of a client relationship and account team and will supervise big pieces of business with multiple work streams and team members.

Other responsibilities include recommending programs and activities coordinating with client’s goals, effectively delegating projects, offering counsel to team members and allocating agency resources to match client budgets. You will also be engaged with business development, strategic program planning, analytics, media relations and the development and execution of creative concepts. Ideally, you will have global agency experience, and have executed multiple global campaigns in scale.

  • Experience managing a large CPG account (over $1 million in billings) and the keen organizational skills needed to juggle multiple client needs at once
