What is the role?

We are looking to appoint an experienced PR Associate Director (Vice President) to join the Healthcare practice in our Paris office. The successful hire will ideally have a good understanding of the French healthcare system and have worked on rx communications and/or integrated communications for healthcare companies or stakeholders. Experience in working on international healthcare assignments is a plus. You will need to be versatile, with an appetite to grow the French healthcare portfolio and open to support and potentially lead on international health work.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for strategy development, campaign development and implementation
  • Day-to-day senior client counsel
  • Work on integrated campaigns and across interagency teams where earned communications sit at the core
  • Financial responsibility: monthly planning and reconciliation
  • Team Management, coaching and development of talent

 

What we’re looking for

  • Fluent French speaker with professional proficiency in English
  • Proven track record working across rx communications and/or integrated communications for healthcare companies or stakeholders
  • A good understanding of the healthcare system in France
  • Extensive experience working on international healthcare assignments
  • Strong client counsel / internal stakeholder counsel experience, strategic communications, and business development experience
  • Progressed to the levels of either Associate Director or Director – proactive and willing to take on new business proposals from start to finish
  • Strategic, multichannel experience – ability to understand audiences and plan campaigns
  • Ability to manage a team – strong management skills are essential
  • Ambitious with the drive to help grow the Healthcare client portfolio in France

What you’ll do all day:  

  • Create: Craft written communications including media materials, compelling social content, memos, and risk assessments 
  • Research: Examine brands, industry trends, and various issues using various resources  
  • Analyze: Answer questions, provide insights, and propose recommendations using quantitative and qualitative data 
  • Engage: Share big ideas in brainstorms and with teams
  • Plan: Assist in event coordination and logistics
  • Hustle: Pitch stories to media, develop media lists, track placements, etc.
  • Monitor: Track brands and issues in traditional and social media and analyze conversations; draft reports summarizing conversation to inform client strategies 

What we’re looking for in a candidate:  

  • Thought: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; growth mindset 
  • Communication: Speak, write, and edit succinctly 
  • Digital: Have an understanding of all the old-school and latest social media platforms, what brands are doing on them, and what they should do next
  • Management: Meet deadlines, put out fires, and multi-task. Work fast and work well
  • Detail-oriented: Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering clear,  precise and accurate work are critical
  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with platforms like Cision, Muckrack, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, and/or Quid are a plus
  • Dynamic: You must be able to work in a fast-paced agency environment and juggle multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Spark: Understand what sets you apart and what motivates you

This program is specially designed for university and graduate school students who are eager to delve into the world of Public Relations and Marketing Communications, and to learn about career opportunities at a global public relations agency.

As a member of CRAYONS, you will: 

  • Participate in workshops to learn about the many areas of expertise across the agency: Creative, Digital/IT, Consumer, Corporate Communications, Healthcare – and more. 
  • Participate in group work to learn about how to create a successful client pitch.  
  • See how an idea comes to life through research, agency brainstorms and strategic planning. 
  • Gain organizational and communications skills that will help you navigate any future career. 

Requirements: 

  • University or Graduate School students who hold a Japan Permanent Resident or a Student visa. 
  • Nearly Fluent or Native Japanese, above business level of English. 
  • Interested in Public Relations and Marketing Communications.  
  • Passion for creative thinking, strategy and pushing the boundaries. 
  • Comfortable commuting to our Tokyo office. 

Notes: 

  • The number of applicants is approximately 15 people.  
  • Selection process: (1st stage) application review, (2nd stage) video interview    
  • We will stop accepting applications once all the places are taken. 
  • We do not offer any credits to students who attend this program. Each must cover their expenses, including commuting costs, liability and personal insurance. A bento box will be prepared for 2 days.

Role Overview

Based in Weber Shandwick’s Paris office, this is an exciting role for an ambitious public relations Account Manager who has gained solid healthcare agency experience, working on campaigns specifically for the French market. The role will require successfully supporting and managing programmes for our healthcare clients, which include pharma, biotech, and medical associations.

Role responsibilities

  • Drives day-to-day management of tactics/projects within a client programme
  • Provides clear briefs and delegates workload appropriately, managing junior and senior colleagues to make the best possible use of time and expertise
  • Proficiently prepares and reviews key materials and client correspondence, and contributes to more complex materials such as plans and new business proposals
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the key healthcare media outlets and types of healthcare stories that are reported and why
  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with day-to-day clients; is available to the client as necessary and begins to develop a role as a trusted client advisor
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of financial management i.e. fees and costs in order to assist the senior team in developing and monitoring budgets

Candidate Profile

  • Fluent French speaker and proficient in English
  • Track record and experience up to Senior Account Executive/Account Manager level in an agency environment or in-house communications experience within a healthcare company
  • Has A solid understanding of the healthcare regulations in France and of the current and emerging topics across France’s healthcare landscape
  • EU passport holder

Nice to have…

  • Experience working on healthcare campaigns for the French market in any of the following areas: pharma, consumer health, medical device, and biotech. Experience working on some international accounts will be beneficial, but not essential
  • An insightful and strategic approach to using traditional, digital, and social media
  • Self-starter who is good at finding solutions and is a great team player
