Senior Associate, Project Management

Weber Shandwick is currently seeking a Sr Associate, Integrated Project Management for the New York Project Management team who will work closely with team members in account, creative, public relations, and strategy, as well as report to a Director or VP across a portfolio of brands and/or projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Sr Project Manager to support managing multiple medium-sized projects or one large project
  • Responsible for understanding and managing internal budget reporting on projects in with support from Sr Project Manager, as needed
  • Professionally manages engagements with account team partners focusing on balancing quality, cost and schedule while managing client expectations
  • Partners with Sr Project Manager and finance to help facilitate accurate and realistic staffing and financial forecasts
  • Responsible for the development of project estimates and facilitating the reviews with Sr Project Managers for approval
  • Routinely monitors financial performance of accounts reviewing bi-weekly time runs, managing time transfer process, and providing monthly burn report summary emails to senior leads identifying any opportunities and risks
  • Manages individual PO set up and invoice tracking for their projects
  • Supports Sr Project Manager in, client-facing meetings and communications, relative to financial management of the account (SOW development; monitoring and tracking deliverables/budgets; change management and reporting) and project road maps/timelines (project plans)
  • Supports in educating the team on roles and responsibilities, process and templates

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Project Management experience, preferably in an agency setting, media relations
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong financial management skills. Exposure to scoping, burn report tracking, and understanding of relationship when scheduling projects.
  • Fluency and/or familiarity with different types of programs and deliverables, such as creative ideation, social and digital
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate both verbally and in written format with internal team members across multiple disciplines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project/Smartsheet, Excel, and PowerPoint

NYC Salary range: $62,400 – $72,000

Today’s media is defined by chaos and confusion.  The ability to make sense of it to guide C-suite client decision-making has never been more important.

What is even more crucial is the ability to harness evolving technologies in AI and open-source intelligence gathering to see through the agendas of social media trolls, activist organizations, and partisan newsrooms to provide objective, effective counsel guiding highly consequential business decisions.

That is where you come in. 

Successful members of our team have a passion for emerging tech and media, are news and politics mavens, bring a data-driven approach to decision-making, have the courage to speak truth to power, and can transcend their own biases to make objective judgments about how and why media is being used to attack or defend controversial social and political issues.

We look for prior experience in media analysis, including social and traditional media listening, as well as expertise in corporate risk, with a focus on bringing data to life through compelling stories that go beyond insights to become implications for Fortune 500 C-suite clientele. Crisis management experience and experience working across multiple geographies or languages is a strong plus.

You will play a key role on our team, leveraging tools, technology, and desk research to extract insights across all forms of media to inform client communication strategies and actions.

This role requires a proactive individual who stays abreast of current events and industry trends, utilizing various analytical tools to derive actionable insights.

You should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. You must be an excellent communicator, strategic client counselor and prepared to roll up your sleeves and stay close to the work. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert on analysis and interpretation of insights who can both explain the analysis at a high level to senior stakeholders.
  • Make qualitative judgments that infer motivations and forecast potential future actions of a wide spectrum of media publishers and influencers.
  • Execute insights from digital listening and proprietary AI network conversation analysis tools (examining misinformation narratives and bot-generated social media content, applying understanding of network analysis, solutions for ongoing campaign and reputation impact).
  • Partner with clients, account teams and cross-discipline teams to understand client questions & intelligence requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers to liaise with different teams (Corporate Communications, Crisis & Issues, and Public Affairs) to execute multiple projects at once.
  • Support the creation of new deliverable templates that define methods to collect, analyze, and present insights.
  • Support regular trainings and socialization of case studies with internal staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and analytical methodologies to continually enhance our research capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in translating data and research into strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights clearly and compellingly.
  • 4+ years of relevant full-time experience as an independent contributor with an experience or desire to mentor junior staff.
  • Experience in corporate and geopolitical risk analysis, health misinformation, and/or crisis and issues management.
  • Experienced subject matter expert in social listening, marketing analytics, digital analytics, and/or data visualization, ideally within an agency or matrixed insights team
  • Experience with primary research (e.g. polling, ethnography, focus groups, related fields) or using coding for data analysis (Boolean, Python, R, SQL)
  • Desire and capacity to take ownership of workstreams, manage fast deadlines and agile deliverable processes, and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Work well within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
