What will you be doing?  

  • Developing strong media relationships, proactively identifying and driving media opportunities which support the client’s business objectives 
  • Meet with key media contacts face to face to form relationships and your little black book and feedback key information 
  • Building relationships with influencers and working across influencer activation campaigns, as well as bigger integrated campaigns 
  • Manage status reports, trackers and media lists for client accounts
  • Generate story ideas, play an active role in brainstorming sessions
  • Staff client events, managing onsite media and influencers, contributing to event management materials like event bibles and guest lists
  • Contribute to internal and client meetings, building confidence in presenting to a range of audiences
  • Demonstrating a solutions-first mindset, exploring multiple approaches when faced with a challenge
  • Drafting various pieces of content including press releases and media alerts, media pitches and assisting the team to ensure copy is prepared, approved and submitted in line with deadlines and much more! 

 

Ideal Experience Required:

  • Experience working on PR campaigns with national consumer brands 
  • Experience building media lists, looking at traditional and new forms of media to drive brand stories
  • Strong written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail 
  • Be happy presenting – whether internally or to a client

THE ROLE

This Freelance Creative Director role is for someone who thrives at the intersection of culture and creativity. You understand how to make ideas travel organically, without relying on big media budgets.

You’ll lead creative across major consumer accounts, developing earned-first campaigns that show up in feeds, media, and everyday conversations. You’ll bring bold concepts to life, write with purpose and clarity, and inspire teams to create work that earns attention.

You’re a strategic thinker, a strong writer, and a collaborative leader who values creative excellence and supports those around you. You live for the pitch and feel right at home contributing to and leading new business efforts. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead the development of earned-first creative ideas across earned and owned channels
  • Translate insights and strategy into powerful creative platforms
  • Craft sharp scripts, content. social posts, and content the lives across channels
  • Work collaboratively with strategy, media, and client experience to create breakthrough campaigns
  • Help drive new business efforts, from ideation, to crafting deck narratives, to in-person pitching.
  • Mentor junior creatives and help shape a collaborative, high-performing team

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • ~10 years of experience in creative roles at agencies or environments rooted in earned media
  • A portfolio filled with work that earned attention and sparked conversations
  • Exceptional writing skills across formats and platforms
  • Experience creating integrated campaigns across social, influencer, PR, and experiential
  • A team-first mindset, entrepreneurial energy, and love for great ideas

NYC Salary: $125.00

POSITION PROFILE 
 
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to join our Social Media team in Toronto. We are looking for a collaborative, self-starter with deep expertise in social platforms and influencer marketing, who has the proven ability to create compelling storytelling narratives and bring them to life through creative digital strategies. We are looking for a team player who has their finger on the pulse of online culture, as well as the latest technology, trends and opportunities in the social and digital world. 

With 5-7 years of experience, our ideal candidate is a thinker and doer, ready to jump in the deep end and support the team on everything from planning and managing complex social media and influencer campaigns, compiling and analyzing reports to actively participating in creative brainstorms. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of the intersection of paid, owned and earned social in brand and PR campaign orchestration. 

 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
 

  • Understanding and applying best-in-class social (organic and paid) practices and platform capabilities 
  • Working with the larger Integrated Media team and client leads to support and lead the development of social media and influencer strategies and proposals 
  • Managing always-on social accounts, including creating and managing social media content calendars and execution 
  • Conducting landscape and social listening research to identify content, creative and strategic opportunities 
  • Overseeing social content development including working with the in-house content team 
  • Leading day-to-day social media client relationships, including presenting recommendations and building trusted partnerships
  • Mentoring and overseeing junior team members, providing guidance, feedback and development opportunities
  • Developing and leading end-to-end social-first influencer campaigns 
  • Creating and presenting reports to track campaign performance and provide insights that inform the next planning cycle 
  • Utilizing social listening tools to conduct audits and develop reports and campaign monitors 
  • Providing platform-specific counsel related to preventing, mitigating and managing issues and crisis-related scenarios 
  • Assisting in digital education and training programs for the wider agency 
  • Educating agency on best practices in the social media and digital space, proactively sharing knowledge and updates 
  • Assisting with new business proposals 

  

REQUIREMENTS 

  • 5-7 years related professional experience 
  • Strong understanding of the social media, digital marketing and influencer landscape 
  • Experience working across both consumer and corporate sectors, with the ability to adapt strategies for distinct audiences
  • Agency experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and strategic mindset
  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with social analytics and monitoring tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Khoros, Sprout, etc.
  • Experience preferred with influencer management tools, such as Lefty, Upfluence, Traackr, Tagger or CreatorIQ
  • Experience preferred with social listening tools, such as Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Meltwater, Hootsuite, or other widely adopted services
  • Experience preferred in setting up paid campaigns on major platforms (Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok)
  • Experience with all major social platform analytics (organic and paid)
  • A BA or BS, or equivalent degree in communications, digital marketing, or a related discipline preferred
  • This is a hybrid role tied to our Toronto office.
