Account Director, Client Experience, Healthcare

The Account Director will have proven leadership and client service skills, and experience managing integrated global communications programs. The candidate will be the day-to-day contact for clients, manage communications across a cross-functional agency team as well as client team, and support flawless execution in the most efficient and productive way. They will display personal ownership and accountability for client engagement, with the ability to cultivate and nurture long-term partnerships and client satisfaction.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain daily client contact, serving as a trusted resource and advisor
  • Facilitate cross-functional team integration (strategy, creative, integrated media specialists, etc.) to deliver on client plans
  • Act as effective, two-way translator between clients and teams, actively counseling development of work in the best interest of all parties
  • Proactively support and suggest improvements and new ideas to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience
  • Manage workstreams with a focus on running data and regulatory milestones and overseeing junior staff
  • Have ownership of client financials and profitability
  • Coordinate integration with other agency partners
  • Successfully navigate conflicts across internal stakeholders, clients and agency partners
  • Manage ongoing team resourcing/staffing to ensure successful delivery of work product
  • Actively participate in agency development and assist with new business

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6-8 years of relevant global healthcare communications agency experience
  • Ability to translate client needs into workable plans/projects
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing high-performing teams; mentoring team members
  • Confident presenter and persuasive speaker
  • Financial acumen in the areas of budgeting, billing and staffing
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree

NYC Salary range: $115,000 – $135,000

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and grow positive relationships with clients, maintaining the company’s reputation in terms of delivery and quality
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients, assess problems and define logical and effective solutions for clients
  • Lead the delivery of quick-turn, high-profile project assignments across national and local markets
  • Be a project management wiz. Communicate expectations and goals to the team on an ongoing basis, helping to keep the team motivated by communicating clear tasks and actions
  • Work successfully with partner agencies as part of a client integrated agency team, both internally at WS and externally
  • Work effectively with finance colleagues to deliver accurate estimates for client projects or new business work. The ideal candidate will lead monthly budget tracking, and compile and edit SOW’s that adhere to a full picture view of a project’s scope
  • Write well-structured, persuasive content and help train other team colleagues to do the same
  • Contribute innovative ideas for the client and new business work, inspiring ideation amongst team members

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years public relations experience, financial services client experience required
  • Agency experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in banking, insurance, retirement services, payments, credit cards, fintech and/or consumer finance with deep understanding of the competitive landscape, product differentiation and the relevant media landscape
  • You are both a creative and a strategic thinker, and a natural team leader who operates quickly
  • Needs to have a track record in client service to senior level clients
  • Strategic media relations knowledge and strong relationships with relevant reporter beats across business financial and consumer press
  • BA or BS in Communications or related degree

Project Director – Digital (Hybrid, NYC)

Flipside Group, part of Weber Shandwick, is seeking a Project Director to lead the delivery of complex digital product development projects, spanning websites, mobile apps, XR experiences, and AI-driven platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work in a closely knit, dynamic team supported by a global network, delivering world-class solutions for a genuinely international client list.

You will be responsible for guiding multi-disciplinary teams—including designers, developers, strategists, and client services—through the full product development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a senior, client-facing role that requires both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership – Own the delivery of digital build projects from inception through launch, ensuring alignment on scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Process Management – Define, implement, and adapt Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid workflows to fit the needs of each project; establish and enforce best practices, templates, and documentation standards.
  • Client Engagement – Act as the senior day-to-day contact for clients, building trusted relationships and ensuring transparency on progress, risks, and solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner closely with internal and freelance teams across design, development, strategy, analytics and finance to maintain integration and consistency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years in project management, with substantial experience delivering web, mobile, and digital platform builds.
  • Methodologies: Proven ability to manage both Agile and Waterfall projects, blending approaches as needed.
  • Technical Understanding: Solid grasp of web and mobile technologies, system architecture considerations, and digital product lifecycle management.
  • Budget Management: Expertise in scoping, pricing, and managing large-scale budgets and multi-workstream programs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Tools: Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office, Smartsheets, Jira, and other project tracking systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong client-facing presence, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and comfort in fast-paced environments.

Weber Shandwick is looking for an Intern to work across a range of healthcare clients. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), paid internship that will start in September and go through December. This role is hybrid out of our New York City office.

What you’ll do all day:  

  • Create: Craft written communications including media materials, compelling social content, memos, and risk assessments

  • Engage: Share big ideas in brainstorms and with teams
