Weber Shandwick has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate team. We are looking for an intellectually curious and collaboration-minded team member with excellent media relations skills, account management, strategic planning and social media skills to help support a variety of accounts. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing public relations action plans, goals, media targets and pitch angles 
  • Cultivating and enhancing collaborative working relationships with media through regular communications 
  • Persuasively pitching media and securing high-profile coverage for clients
  • Staying abreast of current industry news and trends, and ideating creative media, thought leadership and social activations based on your observations; understanding client objectives and priorities to help shape activations  
  • Developing and managing timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
  • Breaking down and managing detailed tasks with the account team 
  • Managing editorial calendars, awards, and speaking opportunity programs on behalf of your account teams, including vetting opportunities, crafting applications, and liaising with coordinators
  • Anticipating and proactively offering solutions to senior team leadership for executional issues specific to assigned programs 
  • Interacting with senior management and providing input into tactics and strategies
  • Writing and editing thought leadership content, key message documents, briefing materials, blog posts and pitch letters for a range of audiences
  • Diving deep into sometimes complex and technical topics to build a deep understanding of clients’ business, industry and points of view
  • Following social media platforms and trends on LinkedIn and Instagram, proposing creative approaches to build engagement on both corporate and executive social media posts, writing social copy & guiding creative teams
  • Meticulously tracking program successes to ensure accurate and compelling measurement and reporting
  • Teaching and empowering Associates and interns you work with
  • Deepening your subject matter expertise to contribute to a passionate and growing team

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of communications experience, preferably in an agency environment
  • Experience and interest in working with financial services and corporate clients across industries, potentially including retirement and insurance 
  • Strong media relations skills and relationships, including in beats relevant to financial services clients
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree preferably in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field 
  • Social media literacy with the ability to identify and recommend social program elements
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Confident and comfortable presenting in front of groups

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Thinking: Do it out of the box. Actually, it’s best if you’re wholly unfamiliar with the concept of boxes
  • Digital: Know all the old school and the latest social media platforms, what brands are doing on them and what they should do next
  • Communication: Speak, write and edit succinctly and compellingly
  • Management: Meet deadlines, put out fires and multi-task. Work fast, and work well
  • Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering clear and precise work is a must
  • Technical: Know Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with platforms like Hootsuite, Muck Rack, Cision, Adobe Creative Suite, a plus
  • Dynamic: Ability to work in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Spark: Understand what sets you apart

Health Communications Specialist

HEALTH COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST 

Weber Shandwick is seeking an experienced Health Communications Specialist to serve as a full-time embed for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) in Atlanta, GA. The specialist will help plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of health communication and marketing research activities designed to impact positive health outcomes. As a Health Communications Specialist, you will help:  

  • Provide day-to-day support for the Center and HCSO as well as help implement Weber specific activities, liaising with internal CDC parties as appropriate. 
  • Develop and implement communication and marketing programs, research projects, and strategies for the general public and other audiences.  
  • Apply communication theories and models to communication campaign development. 
  • Develop and present printed, electronic, and audiovisual materials for technical and lay audiences, scientific journals, and Internet and other mass-media outlets.  
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation to internal and external groups.  
  • Collect data from programs for the development of health communication strategies and products. 

Job requirements: 

  • 6+ years of experience in health communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research method
  • Strong track record of successfully implementing integrated health behavior change campaigns 
  • Knowledge of behavior change communications theories and models 
  • Strong health writing and communication skills 
  • Experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Applicants must be local to the Atlanta area or willing to relocate.
