About the opportunity:
The role of Account Director is to act as a lead liaison between clients, client partners and the Agency, and will focus on all account management initiatives. You will work closely with the clients and your manager in identifying short and long term needs and objectives; craft appropriate strategies as well as identify and implement quality solutions to achieve client goals. In addition, you will also be responsible for managing and leading agency resources in order to meet clients’ communications, marketing and advertising needs.
The Account Director should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and provide ongoing counsel and strategic guidance to the internal team and external client organization. This requires an ability to adapt to different types of situations, personalities and communication styles as this person will be required to work across all functional teams within the Agency and the client organization. The successful Account Director will ensure a collaborative working environment is achieved between the agency, the client, and partners.
The Account Director will also be accountable for the relevance and quality of every agency activity associated with the clients’ business and most importantly any creative products.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as the primary senior contact for client accounts, developing relationships with clients, working closely with them to understand their business and customer experience needs, and directly contributing to key project deliverables alongside the team.
- Demonstrates a strong grasp of clients’ business objectives, identifying opportunities where Weber Shandwick’s services can drive both short-term and long-term strategies, and actively collaborates with the team to translate these into actionable plans.
- Leads by example to ensure the account team understands the scope of work, actively participates in achieving objectives, and contributes to delivering exceptional client experiences.
- Possesses a deep understanding of strategy, creative, and production processes and actively engages in key project stages, providing input, reviewing work, and ensuring alignment with client goals.
- Proactively partners with other functional and account leads, not only driving integration but also working directly on projects to ensure seamless execution and alignment with client expectations.
- Sets and maintains high standards for the quality of creative ideas and work within brand guidelines, actively contributing to brainstorming sessions and creative reviews.
- Collaborates with clients and the team to develop budgets and ensures adherence by monitoring progress and addressing potential challenges in real-time.
- Fosters a collaborative work environment, actively participating in agency and client initiatives to strengthen partnerships and enhance project outcomes.
- Stays informed of relevant client, industry, and market developments, translating insights into actionable recommendations for the team and clients.
- Provides constructive feedback by reviewing work directly with the team, identifying areas for improvement, and offering solutions that elevate outcomes.
- Solves complex issues both independently and collaboratively, working hands-on with the team to address challenges and find innovative solutions.
- Acts as a mentor and role model, guiding junior team members through active coaching, knowledge sharing, and leading by example in day-to-day tasks.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 – 10 years of experience in an account management role. PR/ Communications/ Advertising agency experience is preferred.
- Experience in managing global and regional briefs for global brands.
- Effectively led and developed account teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communications with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change and perform well under pressure, juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint).
- Good time management skills and process driven.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplined campaigns.
- Effective resources allocation skills and ability to connect with different agency disciplines towards achieving clients’ deliverables.
- Special event experience is a bonus, particularly with red carpets, high-profile sponsorships, product launches, openings, stunts, media education events and influencer activations
- Global Perspective: Demonstrated experience working in or exposure to diverse cultures and countries, with an understanding of the nuances of different people, cities, and socio-economic conditions, including those in developing markets.
- Cultural Sensitivity: A strong ability to navigate and adapt to cultural differences with empathy and respect, fostering positive collaboration across a global team.
- Adaptable Communication: Flexibility to tailor communication styles and approaches to align with local norms and practices, ensuring clarity and effectiveness in diverse settings.

What’s Happening?
We’re looking for a talented Senior Associate or Manager to join our consumer team. Our communications offer is rapidly evolving as clients turn to us for strategically focused and imaginative communications solutions that build and protect their reputations while influencing and shaping the operating environment around them.
The ideal candidate will be able to draw upon experiences bringing knowledge and insight into a range of sectors and industries, combined with excellent client servicing and media relations skills. You’ll also need a strong understanding of how digital fits into wider integrated communications programmes, as well as brilliant technical writing skills and a keen eye for detail when it comes to managing project progress.
What will you be doing?
- Building trust and confidence with clients by consistently ensuring that executional work is delivered by the team on time, within budget and to an exceptional standard of quality
- Demonstrating stand-out project management skills, making sure that internal and external deadlines are managed to deliver work on time, including overseeing junior colleagues’ delivery of progress tracking, contact reports and media monitoring summaries
- Developing tactical plans for client activities and working with your account teams to ensure collaborate with other areas of our business to ensure your clients are getting the best expertise and experience Weber Shandwick has to offer
- Writing a range of copy, including press releases and feature articles, as well as posts for clients’ digital and social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
- Managing the media every day, proactively identifying and driving coverage opportunities which support clients’ business and communications objectives
- Participating in the creative development of integrated campaigns for new and existing clients, and supporting the team in researching and preparing new business opportunities
Who are you?
- At least 3 years of experience of working in an account servicing role in a PR agency, ideally servicing Consumer clients
- Fluency in both Japanese and English as you’ll be working with both local and international clients
- Ambitious, with a passion for public relations and the vision to progress your career to a senior level with Weber Shandwick

Consumer PR Intern (Spring 2025)
Weber Shandwick is seeking a spring intern to work across major consumer brands. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), paid internship that will start in January 2025. This role is hybrid out of our NYC office.
The Essentials

What You Will Be Doing
- Research: Analyze brands using various resources, thoughtful and detailed research helps our bring ideas and plans to life
- Engage: Share big ideas in brainstorms and with teams
- Plan: Assist in event coordination and logistics
- Create: Craft written communications including media materials, from briefing books to media pitches
- Hustle: Pitch stories to media, develop media lists, track placements, etc.
- Monitor: Track brands in traditional online and social media during one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Previous campaign reporting experience is a plus
- Organization: Organize and maintain product closet, check inventory, order product/shipping supplies
- Product send outs: Compile various product mailers and coordinate product shipments

Weber Shandwick Canada is seeking a dynamic and motivated Account Director with in-depth consumer marketing experience to help lead some of our biggest accounts, build strong client relationship + drive results.
What does this mean? The Account Director, Consumer, CX role is responsible for driving the success of the client relationship, including meeting client objectives within given budgets, and translating all of these factors into strategic briefs and corresponding planning documents to ensure not only client satisfaction, but an exceptional client experience. You would be responsible for working with cross-functional teams in the development and executional oversight of strategic earned media and digital initiatives including development of campaigns, content creation and measuring the effectiveness of our initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own responsibilities for executional leadership of multiple client programs, budgets, timeline and plans
- Assist in the development of long-term client plans and program recommendations, developing budgets, generating recommendations and creating presentations
- Drive development of tactical plans, translating strategies into tactics; ensure team deliverables align with strategies
- Proactively drive evolution in account team improvements and the work to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience
- Manage ongoing team resourcing/staffing to ensure successful delivery of work product
- Anticipate and proactively offer solutions to senior team leadership for executional issues specific to assigned programs
- Develop and manage timelines and weekly actions plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
- Serve as the day-to-day client contact for multiple brands
- Build and own productive relationships with multiple stakeholders (e.g. brand managers), interagency teams, and a diverse array of agency colleagues
- Representing agency points of view clearly in writing, formal presentations, and informal client meetings and workshops
- Maintaining profitability of engagements
- Motivating the team by bringing a positive, solutions-focused attitude to everything you do
Qualifications:
You have…
- 7 – 8 years public relations experience
- Agency experience (strongly preferred)
- Are both a creative and a strategic thinker
- Have a track record in client service
- A Bachelor’s degree required
