Weber Shandwick is currently seeking a Senior Vice President, Social Strategy to join our team in our Chicago office to lead a key workstream for one of the firm’s largest clients, a CPG giant. This role requires an experienced digital and social strategist who will lead core components of all social strategy related workstreams and serve as a daily client contact. The SVP, Social Strategy will have a high degree of autonomy to lead, develop, and implement strategies to an additional portfolio of clients as the senior social strategy leader in the office.
The Senior Vice President, Social Strategy is responsible for working with cross-functional teams in the development and oversight of the execution of strategic social media and influencer initiatives including campaign development, content creation, relationship management, and measuring the effectiveness of our initiatives.
An ideal candidate will have deep experience in the social space on notable brands and be in tune with emerging trends within digital and social media. The ideal leader has a point of view not just on brand engagement in social channels but also the broader shifts happening in media.
Client-facing responsibilities will include strategic program planning, managing programs and activities to meet business objectives, effectively delegating projects, providing strategic counsel to team members and allocating agency resources while managing client schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior day-to-day client contact for a critical – and highly visible – client, responsible for building and nurturing the client relationship while supporting the management and optimization of a team to support social efforts
- Serve as a senior counselor for existing and prospective clients across a broad portfolio of business in the Chicago office, serving as the senior-most social capability leader
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the development, implementation and measurement of innovative online brand strategies that are integrated with overall client marketing objectives/goals
- Collaborate with agency partners (e.g. media, creative AOR) to develop and implement integrated program execution
- Develop and track against client scopes of work
- Demonstrate strong conceptual thinking with high energy and excellent storytelling skills demonstrated through writing creative briefs and verbal presentation
- Build cohesive social strategies to align overall marcomm efforts and priorities – and be able to develop strategic outputs with little to no oversight. Collaborate closely with strategy, creative, paid and larger integrated agency teams to deliver program initiatives.
- Become educated in client’s brand, customer base, business model and marketing objectives
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience with a digital advertising and/or digital PR agency, CPG experience is desired but not necessary
- Possess a thorough command of the social media and digital world (from the evolving social web to mobile tools and trends), sophisticated client service and digital communications skills, high energy, and passion for this area of rapid change and innovation.
- Work well within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams – displaying proven ability in running a team, controlling timelines and budgets, anticipating issues, and working towards solutions to complex problems.
- Be able to communicate with client contacts across multiple levels, both at a reporting and strategic counsel level
- Have exceptional creative and business writing skill
- Lead cross-functional account teams to build content plans and campaign strategies designed to engage members of brand communities
- Strong technical proficiency in social media platforms
- Be able to analyze and synthesize data from the communities you manage, providing insights from the data to inform future recommendations and decisions
- Have the proven ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced office environment

• Drive development of end-to-end campaign plans, translating strategies into tactics; ensure team deliverables align with strategies
• Proactively support and suggest improvements to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience
• Manage ongoing team resourcing/staffing to ensure successful delivery of work
• Develop and manage timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
• Build and own productive relationships with multiple stakeholders (e.g. brand managers), interagency teams, and a diverse array of agency colleagues
• Maintain profitability and financial health of client relationships
• Motivate the team by bringing a positive, solutions-focused attitude to everything you do
• Lead a high-performing team and mentor junior team members
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• 8-10 years of communications experience, ideally with a focus on technology and/or telecom industries
• Agency experience (strongly preferred) and/or experience with leading tech brands
• Excellent knowledge of the Canadian media and social landscape
• Are both a creative and a strategic thinker
• A track record in building strong client relationships and leading teams that deliver results
• Proven experience building teams, empathetically managing and mentoring junior staff and working as a team-player in a cross-functional setting

The role requires an experienced digital and social strategist who will lead core components of social content strategy-related workstreams and serve as a daily client contact. Responsibilities
- Serve as the digital content strategy lead for a major automotive client.
- Become an expert on our client’s business and how their communications objectives help achieve business goals.
- Develop and implement comprehensive, actionable social media strategies that align with the client’s communication objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external agency teams to develop and implement integrated media strategy, media planning and program execution
- Works autonomously on POVs and thought leadership pieces for internal and external communications (clients and industry)
- Oversee daily operations and content for client’s corporate social media channels, ensuring timely and consistent publishing

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- At least 10 years’ experience in social media management, employee advocacy, and executive social media support, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies and leading and managing social and digital programs.
- Possess expert-level proficiency in social media platforms and inherent curiosity about emerging platforms. Should be willing to experiment with cutting-edge platforms and techniques and explain the “why this matters” to client at a strategic level.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working across departments to achieve strategic alignment and cohesive messaging.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to creating high-quality, engaging content.
- Have experience leveraging social media analytics and working with an analytics team to measure campaign ROI and generate insights that inform future recommendations and decisions.
