Qualifications
- Strong preference for those who are a graduate student, recent college graduate or current/rising college senior.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 30+ hours per week, with a strong preference for those who can work full-time (40 hours per week). This internship will begin in January 2024 and go through May 2024.
- Must have superior analytical and writing skills, be a proactive communicator, and possess a keen eye for detail.
- Strong preference for those with previous internship/work experience. (Experience in opinion research is not required.)
- Should have an interest in market research including work with data, analytics, or data visualization.

Job description
Today’s media is defined by chaos and confusion. The ability to make sense of it to guide C-suite client decision-making has never been more important.
What is even more crucial is the ability to harness evolving technologies in AI and open-source intelligence gathering to see through the agendas of social media trolls, activist organizations, and partisan newsrooms to provide objective, effective counsel guiding highly consequential business decisions.
That is where you come in.
Successful members of our team have a passion for emerging tech and media, are news and politics mavens, bring a data-driven approach to decision-making, have the courage to speak truth to power, and can transcend their own biases to make objective judgments about how and why media is being used to attack or defend controversial social and political issues.
We look for prior experience in media analysis, including social and traditional media listening, as well as expertise in corporate risk, with a focus on bringing data to life through compelling stories that go beyond insights to become implications for Fortune 500 C-suite clientele. Crisis management experience and experience working across multiple geographies or languages is a strong plus.
You will play a key role on our team, leading the development of analytics-driven projects crossing multiple geographies and issues and helping to mentor and grow the skill sets of emerging talent in our practice.
You should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. You must be an excellent communicator, strategic client counselor and prepared to roll up your sleeves and stay close to the work.
Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert on analysis and interpretation of insights who can both explain the analysis at a high level to senior stakeholders and clients while also able to explain nuances of analysis to more junior staff.
- Make qualitative judgments that infer motivations and forecast potential future actions of a wide spectrum of media publishers and influencers.
- Execute insights from digital listening and proprietary AI network conversation analysis tools (examining misinformation narratives and bot-generated social media content, applying understanding of network analysis, solutions for ongoing campaign and reputation impact). This includes input on how new projects are sold and scoped.
- Partner with clients, account teams and cross-discipline teams to understand client questions & intelligence requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers to liaise with different teams (Corporate Communications, Crisis & Issues, and Public Affairs) to coordinate project staffing, priorities, and timing
- Support identification of deliverable templates that define methods to collect, analyze, and present insights.
- Participate in creation of blinded case studies, capabilities decks, and sales decks accessible to different types of client stakeholders (e.g., communications and PR, marketing, cybersecurity, analytics and data science teams).
- Support regular trainings and socialization of case studies with internal staff.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise and experience translating data and research into strategic insights and recommendations.
- 7+ years relevant full-time experience as an independent contributor with a experience or designer to mentor junior staff.
- Experience in corporate and geopolitical risk analysis, health misinformation, and/or crisis and issues management.
- Experienced subject matter expert in social listening, marketing analytics, digital analytics, and/or data visualization, ideally within an agency or matrixed insights team
- Experience conducting primary research (e.g. polling, ethnography, focus groups, related fields) or using coding for data analysis (Boolean, Python, R, SQL)
- Desire and capacity to take ownership of workstreams, manage fast deadlines and agile deliverable processes, nurture client relationships, collaborate with diverse teams.
- Work well within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
NYC Salary range: $109,000 – $135,000

You are an experienced professional who can bridge the worlds of quantitative analysis and senior account leadership with an integrated approach to media research, insights, analytics and data for existing and new Healthcare clients.
Weber Shandwick seeks an experienced SVP to champion, advance and accelerate the use of data and bespoke advanced analytics in communications both within Weber Shandwick and for our Healthcare clients.
This position will sit on New York’s Analytics team but will work hand-in-hand with client experience leaders across the global network. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience selling or marketing scaled custom analytics solutions to sophisticated Healthcare marketing and corporate communications audiences.
The position will directly report to the Head of Analytics for the East region and will support teams across all North American practice areas and lead Weber Shandwick’s most complex Healthcare analytics work.
Responsibilities
Lead Quantitative Healthcare Analytics team
- Maintain deep knowledge and points-of-view on cutting-edge technologies, tools, platforms, and partners relevant to integrated media analytics—including overseeing and/or participating in the rollout of new technologies and partnerships to relevant teams
- Provide hands-on consultancy, collaboration and support to clients and project teams in designing, staffing, and delivering analytics work
Engage Client Experience Leads
- Work closely with firm, regional, practice and other discipline leaders in identifying opportunities and reducing barriers to advancing the use and sophistication of analytics across all offices
- Contribute to business development and growth (both new client and organic growth) through the use of analytics in proposal development, as well as by designing and selling specific analytics solutions to clients
- Lead thought-leadership efforts around the use of analytics in communications and marketing, both inside and outside of Weber Shandwick
Contribute to the development of new analytics tools and techniques/methodology
- Engage as an active participant in product development work with data science, data engineering and product management organization
- Be the voice-of-the-customer as company seeks to break new analytic ground
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- 12-15 years of related professional experience within an agency, consulting or corporate setting
- Talent development experience and skill in building, leading, coaching, and motivating analyst teams
- Ability to derive relevant insights from diverse sources of data, both qualitative and quantitative, including published sources, syndicated data, and proprietary data, and then translating those insights into specific media strategies and recommendations
- Ability to design research and analyses to test specific hypothesis around optimal communications creative and channel mix
Preferred Requirements
- Working knowledge of advanced statistics and data modeling techniques, including regression and classification techniques, as well as use of techniques and tools appropriate for analysis of both structured and unstructured data
- Experience using media/marketing intelligence, social listening or other research tools such as: Brandwatch, GlobalWebIndex, NewsWhip, Meltwater, Cision, Quid, Affinio, Simmons/MRI and Comscore
- Experience using desktop applications and software used for data/statistical analysis, manipulation and visualization including Tableau, SAS, SQL, MS Office Excel and PowerPoint

The VP, Analytics will deliver data-driven, actionable insights on behalf of our clients. Ideal candidates will be excited about championing for the analytics discipline and fluent in the various technologies, platforms and best practices that define the online media and marketing space. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the agency’s Global Intelligence team, charged with orchestrating the measurement and optimization approach for a cross-channel, multi-agency client team. You will be responsible for developing innovative measurement strategies, leading business intelligence efforts and managing the execution of analyses designed to drive deep understanding of consumer behavior and communications performance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong knowledge of both well-established and new-to-market marketing analytics tools and platforms. Apply that knowledge to inform and enhance our work.
- Collaborate closely with cross-function leadership to infuse all aspects of the work with data- and research-backed solutions.
