The Weber Shandwick team is seeking a Vice President of Earned Media Strategy with exceptional earned strategy and media relations prowess to support several corporate clients in our Corporate Practice. The ideal candidate will have experience working across sectors in corporate and brand reputation building communications, executive visibility, and earned media strategy.

Responsibilities 

  • Builds and maintains excellent relationships with media 
  • Understands industry landscape/issues that may directly and indirectly impact a client  
  • Proactively and reactively crafts and tells compelling stories on behalf of clients
  • Leads the development of and is responsible for the execution of earned and integrated media programs
  • Develops strategies/plans and media materials
  • Brings a client-focused attitude that results in work being performed to the highest quality standards
  • Counsels and interacts effectively with clients and leaders at client organizations
  • Serves as key team member on client and inter-agency teams
  • Mentors, coaches and develops direct reports and more junior team members
  • Cultivates and participates in new business opportunities and pitches

Basic Qualifications 

  • 7-10 years of experience. Agency experience preferred.  
  • Experience leading projects from start to finish, working with integrated teams across various disciplines.
  • Earned strategy and media relations experience
  • Bachelor’s degree

NYC Salary range: $125,000 – $165,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

NYC Salary range: $45,000 – $50,000

Manager, Client Experience Digital - Healthcare

We are seeking someone who is passionate about healthcare and making a difference in the lives of patients living with various diseases and conditions. As a Manager, you will work closely with senior and junior staff members across several teams to provide counsel and manage day-to-day work, in addition to serving as a key client contact.

As a successful Manager, you will be a strong leader with excellent writing and communications skills and an ability to translate client needs into project plans. You will also help develop and implement engagement campaigns for a variety of healthcare clients, including pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and health systems. Ideally, you should have agency/consulting or related experience with a background in healthcare communications, including experience leading digital program elements.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Manage account team implementation of agreed-upon programs, ensuring quality standards are met and desired results are delivered on-budget
  2. Lead project management initiatives
  3. Lead development and revision of tools, ensuring all activities are moving forward and are within deadlines
  4. Leverage traditional media as well as influencers and digital/emerging technologies for PR programming
  5. Develop a range of external and media materials including press releases, key message documents, pitches, social media content, etc.
  6. Manage event and activation logistics in a variety of settings
  7. Set and meet campaign measurement and evaluation criteria
  8. Identify training and development needs of junior staff and provide opportunities that enable staff members to reach their full potential
  9. Assist in financial management for clients, including development of invoices and activity reports

 

 What We Are Looking For

  1. Fluency and/or familiarity with digital and social media
  2. Experience working on multi-disciplinary (holistic) communication initiatives
  3. Strong understanding of the relationship between traditional public relations and the use of current online/digital technology and social media
  4. Solid working knowledge of key online/offline media influencers/journalists
  5. Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  6. Experience with clients and accounts that are measurement and evaluation driven
  7. Strong presentation skills, poise, and professionalism
  8. Industry experience in healthcare communications and/or pharmaceuticals

 

Basic Qualifications

  1. At least 4 years’ experience in public relations at an agency or corporate in-house (healthcare experience required)
  2. BA or BS in Public Relations, Communications, or in a related field

POSITION PROFILE

 

We are currently seeking a Director to join our Integrated Media team in Toronto.

 

We’re looking for a self-starter who can help us tell compelling stories for our clients. The position requires a seasoned public relations practitioner with a deep understanding of the earned media landscape, influencer marketing and social platforms, and knows how to shape stories built to travel across the media and digital communities where our clients’ audiences engage.

 

You love the thrill of the pitch, building relationships with media and influencers, and constantly immersing yourself in media, culture and technology trends to drive impact for brands.

With 7-10 years of experience, you’ll play a lead role on integrated account teams to create strategies across earned, owned and paid platforms that transform stories into trending topics. Familiarity with both traditional media as well as digital and social platforms is key.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our client’s business and target audiences, and – working in close collaboration with our Creative, Insights and Client Experience teams – lead the creation and execution of integrated multiplatform campaigns that drive meaningful business results
  • Weave earned media, influencer, social and paid tactics together into integrated plans that tell our clients’ stories and exceed their expectations
  • Oversee campaign execution, rolling up your sleeves and stepping in where required, and taking accountability for program success
  • Provide expert counsel to clients and colleagues on media/influencer/digital trends, issues and best practices – act as a thought leader and trusted partner who shares knowledge and expertise
  • Collaborate effectively with inter-agency teams to develop holistic plans and fully integrated strategies for our clients
  • Lead a high-performing team; mentor and develop junior team members
  • Play a collaborative role in staffing and resourcing to balance team workloads and ensure optimal account service

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7-10 years of experience, preferably within an agency environment
  • Expert understanding of the overall media, social media and cultural landscapes
  • Proven ability to garner earned-first coverage and conversation on behalf of brands
  • Established media relationships and illustrative examples of past success
  • Deep expertise in building and managing media relations and influencer strategies
  • Outstanding communication skills to successfully present program recommendations and establish trusted relationships with senior clients
  • Proven experience in developing and nurturing strong client relationships
