The Detroit office of Weber Shandwick is seeking an Art Director to join our collaborative team and craft fun, shareworthy social content for one of our largest clients. As an Art Director, you’ll be hands-on during the entire creative process. Brainstorming concepts. Pitching ideas. Designing social content. And working with in-house creators to bring the ideas to life. Responsibilities

• Craft content that helps build brands with social-first thinking and shareworthy executions

• Stay current on social trends, and look for opportunities to incorporate them into your art direction

• Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts, designs and art treatments

• Present ideas and executions to internal stakeholders and clients

• Provide artistic direction for production-heavy and lo-fi social video-based ideas with the complete understanding of the types of video formats that work best across various social platforms

• Design additional marketing materials (printed event information, signage, etc.) and presentation decks

• Ensure all creative adheres to existing brand guidelines and social best practices

• Wear multiple hats: we’re a collaborative and supportive team, so you’ll probably have the opportunity to play multiple roles throughout concepting and execution phases

• Collaborate with diverse teams to turn ideas into social content gold!

Skills and Requirements

• 2+ years of art direction or design experience in an agency or related field (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)

• Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and social media platform functionality

• Must be a self-starter, with a record of working collaboratively, quickly and with minimal oversight.

• An understanding of what works — and doesn’t — in social media.

• Innate curiosity and ‘in the culture’ mentality

• The ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines

• Portfolio (share anything that conveys the way you think or approach assignments, even if it was never produced; we like chicken scratches).

• Bonus Skills: blogging, journalism, social community management, filmmaking, videography, editorial, art direction, design, illustration, photography

Detroit Salary range: $58,700 – $65,000

CLIENT AND WORK

Leads integrated teams to create and implement flawless execution plans informed by strategic vision, with very limited support from senior strategic planning leadership

Responsible for all strategic planning for a limited number of clients

Leads the strategic process, from start to finish

Oversee the crafting and evaluation of primary and secondary research plans to segment audiences, and understand the cultural, societal, business and media context impacting a business to uncover business insights

Leads engagement with confidence and commitment to high quality, data-driven strategic brand recommendations, tactical plans and programs

Focuses on the strategic vision driving the detailed execution and performance evaluation

Ensures the plan is strategically sound, accurately addresses interesting insights and opportunities informed by research/ analytics findings in partnership with Global Intelligence

 

LEADERSHIP AND TALENT MANAGEMENT

Manages account engagements independently, with minimal guidance

Guides planning resources, assignment of strategic planning staff

Establishes interpersonal relationships within and outside of department, with focus on building inclusive culture and mentoring colleagues outside of personal relationships

Promotes the development and advancement of underrepresented groups in team through professional development trainings

Mentors, coaches and develops direct reports to deliver high performance while supporting personal and professional development goals

Manager, Earned Media - Technology

Weber Shandwick is looking for a Manager, Earned Media, Technology to join our passionate, fun, and driven team focused on supporting enterprise tech clients.

We are seeking a Manager who has a strong background and interest in earned media-related work with a foundation of skills pitching and securing top-tier, tech and vertical press, including broadcast and podcasts. The ideal candidate is someone who loves the thrill of the pitch, brings existing technology and business media relationships, and has a passion for news, writing and working with a team. As a Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on various top tier brands in various technology categories, including AI, cloud, consulting, research, telecom, security and more.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience, and work with sr. media members, strategists and creative team members to deliver solutions that meet program objectives
  • Monitor media outlets, understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client, and analyze and distill meaningful insights from media coverage
  • Generate story ideas and topic angles, draft media materials, and pitch media to land earned coverage
  • Source and place earned media results on behalf of the client – this includes identifying appropriate contacts, writing pitches, drafting media lists, making follow up calls, etc.
  • Maintain real-time understanding of tech news and trends and support creative ideation for evergreen opportunities on a consistent basis
  • Proactively seek relationships with journalists on behalf of clients and stay current on new and existing media coverage, as well as reporter moves and how to leverage for relationship building
  • Serve as a role model to team members
  • Participate in office-wide initiatives, seminars and meetings to further professional learning and development
  • Actively participate in agency development and assist with new business as needed
  • Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience
  • Assist with ongoing reporting, research and monitoring projects for the client
