About the role:

The Chicago office of Weber Shandwick is seeking a digital, social-savvy Copywriter to join our growing creative team. We are looking for someone with the right combination of social platform knowledge, conceptual approach, and self-motivation to develop and execute impactful campaign content for a global consumer electronics client.  

The right candidate will be equally adept at writing eye-catching, short-form copy and detail-driven long-form copy, deploying your skills across all aspects of a campaign — from banner ads to video scripts.

You will also be asked to think ‘earned first,’ in other words, develop ideas that are designed to travel organically through media and get people talking.

You’ll have the chance to work closely with the brightest minds across the North American Weber Shandwick network, solving provocative client challenges as you develop in your creative career. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to take raw product attributes and spin compelling narratives around them.
  • Current knowledge of best practices for all relevant social media platforms.
  • Remain current on industry, cultural, and technology trends, and look for opportunities to incorporate them into your creative ideas.
  • Work with art directors, designers, strategists, producers and other team members to flesh out the creative development of campaign elements.
  • Develop original concepts and executions with the intention of sparking conversation and engagement in the social media space. These ideas can be published across various social media channels, published through influencer channels, or may transcend social media, digital and traditional advertising.
  • Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts, headlines, video scripts, social posts and various other forms of brand storytelling.
  • Presenting ideas and production-ready executions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all creative adheres to existing brand guidelines.
  • Responsible for editing and proofing materials during all project phases.
  • Write compelling decks to pitch your ideas and those of your colleagues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2+ years of copywriting experience in an agency or related field (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations).
  • Must be self-motivated, hardworking, well organized, thick skinned and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables.
  • Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, platforms, trends and philosophies in marketing, technology and social media.
  • Must have a portfolio (share anything that conveys the way you think or approach assignments, even if it was never produced).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education in advertising and conceptual thinking is preferred.
  • Bonus skills: illustration, photography, retouching, filmmaking, etc. Any artistic passion points are always a plus.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in consumer electronics a plus.

Illinois Salary range: $59,000 – $75,000

Senior Vice President, Social Strategy

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior day-to-day client contact for a critical – and highly visible – client, responsible for building and nurturing the client relationship while supporting the management and optimization of a team to support social efforts
  • Serve as a senior counselor for existing and prospective clients across a broad portfolio of business in the New York office, serving as the senior-most social capability leader
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the development, implementation and measurement of innovative online brand strategies that are integrated with overall client marketing objectives/goals

Qualifications:

12+ years of experience with a digital advertising and/or digital PR agency, CPG experience is desired but not necessary 

  • Possess a thorough command of the social media and digital world (from the evolving social web to mobile tools and trends), sophisticated client service and digital communications skills, high energy, and passion for this area of rapid change and innovation.
  • Work well within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams – displaying proven ability in running a team, controlling timelines and budgets, anticipating issues, and working towards solutions to complex problems.
  • Be able to communicate with client contacts across multiple levels, both at a reporting and strategic counsel level
  • Have exceptional creative and business writing skill
  • Lead cross-functional account teams to build content plans and campaign strategies designed to engage members of brand communities
  • Strong technical proficiency in social media platforms
  • Be able to analyze and synthesize data from the communities you manage, providing insights from the data to inform future recommendations and decisions

•    Maintain profitability and financial health of client relationships

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
 
•    9+ years of communications experience, ideally with a focus on technology and/or telecom industries
•    Agency experience (strongly preferred) and/or experience with leading tech brands
•    Excellent knowledge of the Canadian media and social landscape
•    Are both a creative and a strategic thinker
•    A track record in building strong client relationships and leading teams that deliver results
