Weber Shandwick is excited to be looking for a Manager / Senior Manager Data Science to join our Analytics & Insights team. This is an opportunity to work with the EMEA team based in London.

There is a huge opportunity to grow professionally whilst learning from some brilliant thinkers in how to apply analytics and data science in a business context. Working with various tools and methodologies, the Data Scientist will get first-hand exposure to clients, their business problems and acquire useful transferable skills both in the application of your analytics abilities and in presentation and people skills. It really is never boring in our team. The type of analytics work we do covers:

  • Statistical modelling and machine learning

On a day-to-day basis, our main aim is to identify patterns in data which will provide useful insights to our clients. We channel our positive attitude, critical thinking and analytical mind-sets to solve our client’s problems, provide inputs into strategy and see opportunities not visible without data and insights. Depending on scope and requirements we work together or individually to identify insight from large datasets (using NLP, machine learning & Gen AI capabilities) and develop data science and analytics products aimed to solve our clients’ business challenges, consolidate processes and revolutionise how we approach our work.

Among other things, this role involves the development, integration, and scaling of AI, NLP and Gen AI technologies, as well as optimising data processes and working closely with the broader AI team. Keeping up-to-date with advancements in generative AI and machine learning is crucial. This is a hands-on role.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, create, and deployment of Machine Learning models and applications aimed at addressing PR and earned media communication requirements.
  • Assist the business in incorporating LLMs, NLP, and generative AI into current processes and workflows where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to define, research, and implement solutions.
  • Develop predictive model prototypes to solve a variety of business problems through natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), and recommendation engines
  • Segment audiences using algorithms such as K-means, PCA or GMMs
  • Apply your expertise in data analysis to extract key findings from large datasets and present results beyond the numbers, also using tools like Tableau and Looker

Who are you?

Skills Needed

  • The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), including their application in natural language processing systems throughout the development and deployment stages. A deep familiarity with current research and trends in LLMs is advantageous.
  • Strong mathematical, statistical or data science background
  • Proficient in Python & SQL and ability to write clean production code
  • Experience in building datasets, selecting and engineering features, building and optimising algorithms, machine learning in production
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models, preferably with LLM’s, NLP or GenAI experience
  • Experience in some of the following domains: Deep Learning, Learn-to-Rank, Recommender Systems, Regression, Classification, Clustering
  • Extensive Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn and Spark Mllib
  • Experience deploying to cloud systems (AWS, GCP)
  • Strong ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work both independently and within a team

Skills Desirable

  • Experience in writing production grade code, unit tests, using version control
  • Experience in A/B hypothesis testing (confidence intervals and p-values, linear regression to generalised additive models, time series)
  • Knowledge of Spark, Hadoop or similar platform
  • Experience with CI/CD including Git, Docker
  • Experience with data visualisation platforms like Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio, etc.
  • Experience with front-end visualisation platforms like Streamlit, Dash, Flask

The Role 

We are an award winning and forward-thinking People team looking to recruit a People Partner to join us.  Our People Partner will act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, supporting their designated client groups with guidance on people-related matters as well as key initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture. You may already be a People / HR Business Partner in a smaller organisation seeking a new challenge, or a Senior Advisor looking to take a step up. 

What will you be doing? 

Working with the People Leads, Advisors and Apprentice within the wider Weber Shandwick People team, you will provide support in a range of areas including: 

  • Partner with senior leaders in your client groups to proactively understand their goals and needs. Supporting teams with day-to-day people challenges, offering practical and timely solutions that keep things moving. Work closely with the broader people team to deliver consistent, responsive, and forward-looking HR guidance and messaging that drives real impact. 
  • Leading on general queries for your Client Groups and providing HR support and advice across the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, probation, employee relations, appraisals, training, employee queries, and exit procedures. 
  • Provide best practice guidance and support managers on a variety of employee relations cases to maintain a high standard of employee experience and organizational integrity. Escalate complex cases as needed to maintain a high standard of employee experience and organizational integrity. 
  • Lead on the advancing our People data and analysis offerings. Collaborate with our People Advisors to uncover trends, transforming insights into actionable recommendations that drive continuous improvement across Weber Shandwick. 
  • Collaborate with Finance and our TA team for recruitment within your client group, utilising Greenhouse our internal ATS. 
  • Oversee the management of the probation process, including taking People Managers through the process and keeping up to date on employee progress, ensuring all probation meetings and corresponding paperwork is done in a timely manner. 
  • Coach People Managers through effective appraisal reviews, and training on the system used. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the HR team, acting as a mentor to the People Advisors and making improvements to our processes to ensure they are efficient and ensure we are providing excellent client service. 

You will also support with various responsibilities including: 
 

  • Working alongside the DEI People Lead in the delivery of the UK DEI plan supporting the delivery of projects and initiatives alongside our key partners, sponsors and internal stakeholders within this space.

A snapshot of the role:

Weber Shandwick is looking for a talented Senior Associate (Senior Account Executive-equivalent) who wants to be part of the Corporate Enterprise practice in our London office. The practice is made up of a smart, dedicated and fun team with expertise spanning Corporate Reputation, Public Affairs, Crisis &Issues, Sustainability, Social Impact and B2B.

The ideal candidate will be curious, ambitious, proactive and friendly. The role offers a portfolio of well-known global brands, as well as work on integrated campaigns involving earned media, strategy, creative, analytics and digital specialists. You’ll be instrumental in managing the day-to-day running of accounts, pitching to the media and securing coverage, and overseeing research and campaign reporting.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support delivery of an exceptional client experience by leading in the development of status reports, materials trackers, media trackers, conference/event trackers and managing logistics for client/team meetings
  • Supporting the development of media/campaign strategies and providing knowledgeable recommendations
  • Media pitching
  • Collaborate with specialist practitioners within the practice and throughout the wider London office to support the delivery of integrated communications campaigns
  • Oversee media research and the development of targeted media lists (top-tier, trade, specialist areas)
  • Oversee research and development of media audits
  • Oversee accurate and timely media monitoring and campaign results reports

Ideal experience required:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Corporate/B2B PR or marketing, ideally three
  • An interest in the complex world of Corporate and B2B comms – in fact, an interest in the world full stop. The Corporate Enterprise team is an incredibly curious one, with interests spanning tech, sustainability, education, politics and more. We use this to bring a fresh perspective, helping tell client stories through the lens of so many other industries
  • An understanding and proficiency in both media relations and the delivery of an exceptional client experience
  • A strong roster of journalist contacts within corporate, B2B  and vertical sector beats at titles covering international, national and trade/vertical sector publications
  • Experience using standard PR tools (e.g. ResponseSource, Cision, Gorkana)
  • Be an excellent communicator and possess exceptional writing skills, particularly the ability to digest complex information and turn it into compelling, understandable written copy
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for the client, practice and team
  • Experience leading campaigns and being a day-to-day first point of contact for clients, with a track record of providing sound recommendations

The practice is made up of smart, dedicated, and fun team members with expertise spanning B2B, Corporate, Public Affairs, Crisis/Issues, Social Impact/ESG and Technology.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced practitioner who is curious, ambitious, proactive and friendly. You will enjoy working on a portfolio of well-known global brands, executing integrated campaigns involving earned media, strategy, creative, analytics and digital. You’ll lead the day-to-day running of accounts, provide counsel, manage budgets, and lead and inspire your team to deliver flawless execution of activities.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Provide high-level strategic counsel to clients, being able to proactively identify and assess problems, define logical and effective strategies, and implement solutions on their behalf
  • Be a highly trusted senior point of contact for clients, responsible for leading a team to deliver an exceptional client experience
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the development of both over-arching strategy and creative campaign ideas
  • Act as a facilitator, bringing in specialist practitioners within the practice and throughout the wider London office to support in the delivery of integrated communications campaigns
