Weber Shandwick, a leading global communications agency, is seeking a talented and an enthusiastic fall intern in Washington, DC, to work with our Analytics practice. 

 

Our Analytics internship is a full-time, paid program designed to complement and enhance academic studies through participation in a variety of assignments and professional responsibilities. Interns work side by side with the firm’s diverse team of strategists, analysts, producers, designers, developers and campaign activators.

 

The intern assigned to our analytics team will work on a range of projects from communications reporting and automation to machine learning, and big data integration. You’ll work on clients of all types, using diverse data sets to solve strategic business and communications problems. Our strategy Analytics interns typically meet the following profile:

 

  • Data Strategists: business analysts with basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, and data visualization with a focus on how to use data to tell stories and build business cases

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct, compile, and present analyses to inform the strategic direction of integrated campaigns
  • Carry out social media listening research to identify trends in online conversations and to pinpoint key influencers; should have basic comfort with Boolean queries or an interest in learning
  • Use web and social media analytics platforms to measure campaign and content performance and provide data-backed recommendations for optimization
  • Understand client background and needs, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
  • Participate in strategic brainstorming sessions when invited by account leads or supervisors
  • Sanitize raw data inputs and perform quantitative analysis in Microsoft Excel

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Availability: 40 hours a week throughout the duration of your internship. Our internship program runs from September – December.

 

Additional Qualifications: Ideal Analytics intern candidates will possess some combination of the following. Please note: you do not have to have ALL of these qualifications, just some combination of them, in order to be a viable Analytics candidate.

  • Interest in data-based storytelling or data journalism
  • Basic understanding of intersection of traditional and digital media platforms and familiarity with developments in the media industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, time-management, and critical-thinking skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily in Excel and secondarily in PowerPoint
  • Experience working with or interest in web analytics, social and traditional media monitoring, and social media analytics platforms
  • Experience working with or interest in data visualization tools and creative ways to display information
  • Keen eye for data trends and the ability to solve strategic business and communications problems
  • Familiarity with developments in the media industry, plus knowledge of a variety of social platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) and the latest news and trends affecting these channels
  • Basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, data engineering and data visualization with a focus on how to integrate analytics into marketing and communications strategies

 

Washington DC Salary range: $20.00 – $20.00

Senior Manager, Analytics

We are recruiting a Senior Analytics Manager who is experienced and passionate about leveraging analytics to inform and empower effective communications campaigns for clients.   This person will be skilled in operationalizing client questions into smart measurement research and translating best-in-class analytics findings into actionable insights that inform client’s communication strategies and measure campaign effectiveness. Responsibilities:

  • Partner with teams to service client research and analytics requests, design the approach, lead a team through the analysis, and answer questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage workloads of two analysts to ensure delivery of compelling analytics reports and insights that empower client to easily evaluate social listening topics, media trends and digital analytics relative to business objectives.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Maintain strong knowledge of both well-established and new-to-market digital marketing analytics tools and platforms; specifically syndicated research and social listening platforms.
  • Evangelize smart data analytics that inform decision-making at all levels internally and externally with clients and other agency partners
  • Develop and apply strategic measurement frameworks to form the basis of ongoing performance assessment and optimization across paid, earned and owned channels.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience translating data and research into strategic insights and recommendations
  • 5+ years relevant full-time experience as an independent contributor and 2+ years managing direct report(s)
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with federal government clients, ideally in agency or matrixed analytics team
  • Experience and subject matter expert in social listening, marketing analytics, digital analytics, campaign performance, and/or measurement of real-world impact
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing data from first-party and third-party sources
  • Experience analyzing and advising paid, earned, owned, and influencer media strategies
  • Ability to work independently and be a collaborative team player who brings unique analytics skills to large client teams
  • Desire and capacity to take full ownership of work tracks, manage complicated deadlines and deliverable processes, nurture client relationships, collaborate with strategy and creative teams, and mentor junior analytics staff

Senior Market Research Analyst

Job Summary

KRC Research is seeking a Senior Market Research Analyst to join our Washington, DC team. Senior Analysts are an integral part of the KRC team, executing both primary and secondary research studies for clients spanning across the family of IPG agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, market research, social science or related field
  • 2-5 years market research experience
  • Demonstrated experience executing quantitative and qualitative research projects end-to-end, from conception through final presentation
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptionally strong writing and reporting skills
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and programming software (e.g., Qualtrics) is preferable but not required
  • Moderating and interviewing skills/training/experience a plus
  • The ability to travel for business occasionally

This position typically works under the direction of a Research Director, VP or SVP depending on project scope and complexity. Responsibilities may vary but generally include:

  • Participation in client meetings to help advise on approach and scope of research
  • Developing survey questionnaires and qualitative screeners with guidance
  • Testing survey and screener programming for accuracy
  • Communicating project requirements to programming and data collection partners
  • Monitoring data collection progress and managing quotas
  • Development of tab spec and banner plans
  • Recruitment oversight for qualitative work
  • Drafting moderator guides
  • Analyzing data and developing key findings
  • Creating insightful and visually compelling reports and presentations
  • Writing final reports in both PowerPoint and MS Word
  • Interaction with clients as required to meet project needs
  • Generally responsible for overall project management including timing, execution, problem resolution and final deliverables
  • Writing bid requests and assist in drafting business proposals

Market Research Director

KRC Research is seeking a Research Director to join our Washington, DC team. This is an onsite hybrid work model position. Research Directors are a vital part of the KRC team, leading important research engagements for clients spanning across the family of IPG agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, market research, social science or related field
  • 7 years of market research experience
  • Extensive experience leading both quantitative and qualitative research studies
  • Ability to oversee projects from initial conception through final presentation
  • Strong project and client management skills
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills (both verbal and visual)
  • Skilled at conducting in-depth interviews; focus group moderation a plus
  • Experience and desire to manage junior researchers
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and programming software (e.g., Qualtrics) is preferable; familiarity with Quid and/or Talkwalker a plus

This position typically works on projects overseen by a VP or SVP and is often supported by junior researchers, depending on project scope and complexity. Research Directors are expected to be experienced enough to lead research studies relatively autonomously. Responsibilities vary for each unique research study, but generally include:

  • Leading client meetings to help advise on approach and scope of research
  • Developing/reviewing survey questionnaires and qualitative screeners
  • Determining quotas and weighting schemes
  • Coordinating with operations team for survey programming, fielding and data processing
  • Ensuring program accuracy and making quota decisions while fielding
  • Drafting moderator guides
  • Conducting IDIs
  • Writing analysis plan, analyzing data and developing key findings
  • Creating insightful and visually compelling reports and presentations
  • Managing staff assigned to the project team, and ensuring engagement, productivity, and work within budget
  • Generally accountable for overall project success including execution, problem resolution, deliverables, client management and final presentation

KRC Directors also play an essential role in helping to manage the business by:

  • Contributing to new business efforts, including writing proposals and designing budget structures and fees
  • Formally managing junior staff, including coaching through performance levels and conducting reviews
