Weber Shandwick Honored for Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives by PR Council and PRWeek
Weber Shandwick was honored with the Diversity Distinction in PR Award for Best PR Firm Diversity Initiative by the PR Council and PRWeek at the PR Council’s annual dinner held on October 21 in New York. This awards program celebrates and honors excellence in promoting diversity across the public relations industry.
Weber Shandwick has won four Diversity Distinction in PR awards since the program was introduced five years ago, including three Best PR Firm Diversity Initiative honors and one Best Community Initiative award. These recognitions showcase Weber Shandwick’s commitment and successful efforts to champion diversity and foster inclusion within the organization and throughout the communications community at large.
In awarding Weber Shandwick this most recent honor, one judge commented that Weber Shandwick’s approach “extends beyond the entry level or pipeline and gets at the heart of perhaps the most critical issue our sector faces — the hiring and advancement of senior-level diverse professionals. This is real change.”
“The diversity of external partners, development programs, and long-term goals should be used as a model by others,” said another judge.
In its coverage of the awards, PRWeek noted, “Understanding the importance of establishing a culture conducive to diversity and inclusion, Weber has a 118-person Diversity Council, but it goes the extra mile to ensure its efforts come alive locally.”
Weber Shandwick engages in partnerships with powerful diversity-focused organizations to heighten diversity & inclusion across the communications landscape and to advance a climate that supports the best work experience possible. As a result, Weber Shandwick has also been honored with IPG’s Inclusion Award for Inclusive Talent Cultivation, the Ad Age Best Place to Work distinction and the PRWeek Best Places to Work honor for two consecutive years.
