Lydia Lee Discusses China’s Tech Response to COVID‑19 in Aspen Digital Webinar
Last week, Weber Shandwick China President Lydia Lee joined Aspen Digital, a division of the Aspen Institute, for a webinar titled China: Innovation Under the Shadow of COVID-19. Moderated by Aspen Digital Executive Director Vivian Schiller, the session explored China’s technology capability, how it was implemented as the country worked to control the virus spread and what civic technology is in the works around the world.
In the webinar, Lee reflected on innovative contributions from China’s business community in response to the now-global pandemic. She shared background on China’s technology infrastructure and discussed some of the core issues the country faced during the pandemic: misinformation, business disruption and scale and speed – and the technological solutions deployed to address them.
Other participants included Gary Liu, CEO of the South China Morning Post, the leading news media organization reporting on China and Asia, and Andrew McLaughlin, former Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Internet Policy in the Obama White House.
