The VP, Analytics will be a leader with clients and colleagues, delivering data-driven, actionable insights and approaches. Ideal candidates will be excited about championing for the analytics discipline and fluent in the various technologies, platforms and best practices that define the online media and marketing space. About you: You are a highly collaborative, original thinker who is endlessly curious about the intersections of people, culture, brands, and media. You think and write clearly, and you understand diverse media platforms and technology. You can develop innovative measurement strategies, lead business intelligence efforts and manage the execution of analyses designed to drive deep understanding of consumer behavior and communications performance of today’s brand communications challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Work across teams on consumer brand and corporate communications strategies from start to finish, including execution and performance evaluation.
- Partner with data, product, AI and other specialist teams across the agency to pilot and implement innovative solutions for clients
- Lead the analytics business in Canada, working closely with North American and Global Analytics & Intelligence teams
- Support and advance established Weber Shandwick analytic products and methodologies for Canadian clients
- Champion the use of data to inform decision-making at all levels internally and externally.
- Provide hands-on consultancy, collaboration and support to clients and project teams in designing, budgeting, staffing, and delivering analytics work.
- Derive insights from data to create a compelling narrative that moves internal and external audiences to act on our recommendations.
- Proficiency with earned, owned, and paid aspects of digital content management, including social media, site analytics and search.
- Experience using media/marketing intelligence, social listening, or other research tools such as: YouGov, Talkwaker, Cision, Quid, Vividata, Meltwater and others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort with working in and contributing to a fast-paced, team environment.
- Reports to regional Innovation + Intelligence Lead, plays an active role in team development, and manages, supervises and mentors talented and eager junior staff.
- 8-10 years’ experience (preferably in consumer marketing, PR and/or advertising)

Salary range: $126,000.00 – $160,000.00

Qualifications
- Strong preference for those who are a graduate student, recent college graduate or current/rising college senior.

- Must have superior analytical and writing skills, be a proactive communicator, and possess a keen eye for detail.
- Strong preference for those with previous internship/work experience. (Experience in opinion research is not required.)

Our Analytics internship is a full-time, paid program designed to complement and enhance academic studies through participation in a variety of assignments and professional responsibilities. Interns work side by side with the firm’s diverse team of strategists, analysts, producers, designers, developers and campaign activators.
The intern assigned to our analytics team will work on a range of projects from communications reporting and automation to machine learning, and big data integration. You’ll work on clients of all types, using diverse data sets to solve strategic business and communications problems. Our strategy Analytics interns typically meet the following profile:
- Data Strategists: business analysts with basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, and data visualization with a focus on how to use data to tell stories and build business cases
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct, compile, and present analyses to inform the strategic direction of integrated campaigns
- Carry out social media listening research to identify trends in online conversations and to pinpoint key influencers; should have basic comfort with Boolean queries or an interest in learning
- Use web and social media analytics platforms to measure campaign and content performance and provide data-backed recommendations for optimization
- Understand client background and needs, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
- Participate in strategic brainstorming sessions when invited by account leads or supervisors
- Sanitize raw data inputs and perform quantitative analysis in Microsoft Excel
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Availability: 40 hours a week throughout the duration of your internship. Our internship program runs from June – August.
Additional Qualifications: Ideal Analytics intern candidates will possess some combination of the following. Please note: you do not have to have ALL of these qualifications, just some combination of them, in order to be a viable Analytics candidate.
- Interest in data-based storytelling or data journalism
- Basic understanding of intersection of traditional and digital media platforms and familiarity with developments in the media industry
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, time-management, and critical-thinking skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily in Excel and secondarily in PowerPoint
- Experience working with or interest in web analytics, social and traditional media monitoring, and social media analytics platforms
- Experience working with or interest in data visualization tools and creative ways to display information
- Keen eye for data trends and the ability to solve strategic business and communications problems
- Familiarity with developments in the media industry, plus knowledge of a variety of social platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) and the latest news and trends affecting these channels
- Basic understanding of statistics, digital analytics, data engineering and data visualization with a focus on how to integrate analytics into marketing and communications strategies

The intern assigned to our ADS team will work on a range of projects from communications reporting and automation to machine learning, and big data integration. You’ll work on clients of all types, using data to solve strategic business and communications problems. As a data engineering intern, you’ll leverage your knowledge and skill to access data from multiple data sources, build scalable and reusable data pipelines and process data that can be easily used for modeling and mining needs.
General Responsibilities:
- Understand client background and needs, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
- Participate in strategic brainstorming sessions when invited by account leads or supervisors
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements through web scraping or API’s
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale processing systems using tools like Apache Kafka and Apache Spark.
- Aid in the management of our data warehouse solutions, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of data to stakeholders.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Mine and analyze data to drive optimization and improvement of campaign management, marketing techniques and business strategies
- Coordinate with different teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Availability: 40 hours a week this Summer

- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau
