What is the role?
We are looking for a mid-weight Strategist to join our Strategy team. The team’s purpose is to supercharge more creative and effective work.
The role is a superb opportunity to join successful Strategy team in an award-winning communications agency, where you’ll gain experience partnering with well-known global brands as well as some here in Scotland too.
You’ll have the chance to work on integrated campaigns across a range of sectors, supporting senior leads on key projects, leading strategy on your own accounts (with senior support) and helping to develop our junior staff.

What will you be doing?
- Writing creative proposals to inspire clients and stakeholders
- Leading the strategy process through to execution
- Providing thorough interpretation of research findings (both quant and qual)
- Tracking cultural and audience trends
- Responsible for identifying various sources of information & insight appropriate to a client problem – whether that’s existing research, behaviour change data, relevant case studies or social listening
- Creating messaging frameworks and content territories /pillars, as well as influencing overarching campaign and channel strategies
Who are you?
- Someone with a passion for creativity and is hungry to create exceptional work
- The ideal candidate will likely have strong previous experience in marketing/communications strategy and planning ideally within a strategy department/communications agency
- High level of comfort with research techniques and insight generation
- Comfortable using analytics tools and interpreting data
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Possess deep intellectual curiosity about culture, media, and technology, and how they affect human behaviour
- Be adept at distilling and simplifying compelling insights to craft creative briefs
- Good commercial awareness

Responsibilities
Client Solutions and Team Lead
- Serve as daily client contact and act as client lead when appropriate, demonstrating a bias for delivering proactive solutions and inspiring confidence that business objectives and challenges are understood
- With input from senior leaders, oversee development of strategic recommendations on change management, organizational culture and/or employee engagement projects, requiring knowledge of change management processes and principles, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Understands the end-to-end methodologies across the core suite of UM offerings and, as such, when to pull in senior leaders or specialists from other practices
- Ensure deliverables are client-ready – reviewing deliverables produced by junior team members
- Ability to share insights, distill findings, and trends with clients and teams to mobilize, develop and motivate
Account Management Expert
- Partner with Senior Principals and Principals to design the project team structure and organically grow the business – identifying new opportunities and proactively developing client relationships
- Effectively “manages up,” proactively seeking out senior input and counsel when needed rather than waiting for senior team members to check in
- Drive creation, approval and management of SOWs and project budgets
- Identify resourcing needs/gaps/opportunities to solve with UM’s VP, Operations

We are seeking a strong Manager to join our Media Relations team within our Healthcare Practice who loves the thrill of the pitch, building relationships with media, and has a passion for healthcare innovation. As a Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on various top tier brands in various healthcare categories, including high science, health and wellness and consumer health.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience, and work with sr. media members, strategists and creative team members to deliver solutions that meet program objectives
- Monitor media outlets, understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client, and analyze and distill meaningful insights from media coverage
- Generate story ideas and topic angles, draft media materials, and pitch media to land earned coverage
