Senior Editor, Brand – New York

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated writer, editor, and content strategist to work with a team of graphic designers, social media managers, and integrated media specialists on behalf of our major Consumer clients.

This person will work with internal team members and clients to determine client objectives and develop and activate a comprehensive, multi-channel content strategy to meet those goals. An ideal candidate will have a passion for telling strategic and creative stories on deadline, be familiar with digital storytelling across earned, owned, and paid media — subject matter expertise in Lifestyle is preferred.

 The Ideal Candidate Would Have:

  • 5-7 years of editorial experience at an agency, media or online publishing company
  • A proven track record of working under daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
  • Excellent editing, writing, and grammatical skills
  • A keen sense of news value and editorial judgment, especially in the Consumer Goods beat
  • Subject matter expertise in the Consumer Goods industry is a preferred
  • Experience writing, reporting and interviewing
  • Ability to develop content strategies, including setting goals, determining audiences, performing research and competitor audits, choosing channels, and developing editorial calendars
  • Ability to develop creative story ideas and an eagerness to execute them
  • Be able to write sharp, engaging copy on a variety of Consumer Goods topics, in a variety of voices for different audiences and in a variety of content types
  • Knowledge of multimedia storytelling
  • A clear ability to work autonomously, with solid decision-making skills and the ability to identify concerns and issues
  • Can communicate effectively with clients and internal team members
  • Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of web publishing from site structure to overseeing asset management; from editing copy to producing content on publishing platforms (WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.).

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze Consumer client objectives and audiences to determine content channels, and types.
  • Create editorial workflows, develop content calendars, and report on content results.
  • Generate and help produce story and content packages (blog posts, though leadership op-eds, social posts/calendars, email/website copy, podcast/video scripts and whitepapers).
  • Edit and help oversee editorial calendars — both for websites and social channels.
  • Edit stories from freelancers and others for publication on the web.
  • Develop and write short-form copy for social posts across multiple channels.
  • Produce content in CMS such as WordPress.
  • Manage analytics and reporting on web content.
  • Contribute story ideas – from pitch to execution – for multiple digital platforms.
  • Coordinate with other departments and teammates, such as art, media buying, social media and more.

NYC Salary range: $80,000 – $110,000

The right person for this role has:

• 18+ years of experience in PR, inclusive of Agency experience leading, driving and executing Crisis and Issues

• Deep knowledge and experience in cyber security, public affairs, litigation support, regulatory, labor and brand safety, corporate affairs, corporate reputation, executive visibility, social impact as well as crisis communication

• Exposure to leading edge technology, analytics and data that improves the ability to deliver impactful communications and insights to C-level clients.

• Proven track record of proactively identifying and delivering strategic opportunities that unlock account growth beyond the current or ‘expected’ remit

• Exceptional client service track record with ability to counsel and interact effectively with C-suite and senior management at client organizations • Ability to efficiently manage cross-office teams

• Ability to be both strategic and hands-on, to flex with clients’ needs

The Global Corporate Crisis and Issues Practice is seeking a Director in our New York office.  

 What we are seeking: 

 We are looking for a Director level practitioner to help us grow our Global Crisis and Issues Practice and support a wide array of high-profile clients with crisis preparedness and planning activities, crisis simulations and live crisis response. You have extensive crisis communications and issues management experience, preferably across multiple industries. Experience helping clients navigate cyberattack communications is a plus.

  • Support a range of issues and crisis communications situations for companies and organizations, including, but not limited to:

  • Experience directly counseling clients/senior ranking executives through a broad range of crises, issues and special situations, with preference for those in the healthcare sector. 
  • Experience with corporate reputation, brand management and protection through integrated communications programs. 
  • Familiarity with the latest digital trends in social media strategy, tools, and analytics – including generative AI tools. 
  • Experience creating issues and crisis preparedness programs (e.g., protocol, scenario plans, simulations drills, workshops and media trainings)  
  • Experience with cybersecurity event and litigation matter communications. 
  • Communicates clearly, analytically, and persuasively both orally and in writing. 
  • Proficient understanding of best practices in corporate communications and crisis and issues management. 
  • Skilled crisis and issues media relations strategist and practitioner with top-tier media relations experience. 
  • Thrives under pressure and can handle multiple projects in a demanding, deadline-oriented environment. 
  • Exercises exceptional judgment when working with clients, team members, and vendors.
