We are seeking a Copywriter with strong digital / social expertise to join our creative team. We are looking for someone with the right combination of conceptual approach, self-motivation, and writing skills necessary to create, sell, and execute impactful ideas for our clients. This person will be instrumental in defining the conceptual approach and direction for a variety of brands and assignments across a wide range of communication strategies and channels. They need to be obsessive about big ideas which earn attention and crafting compelling stories. We are looking for a specific type of person, someone who embodies talent and decency in equal measure.
Responsibilities:
- Crafting stories and building brands through campaign level thinking and execution
- Remain current on industry, cultural, and technology trends, and look for opportunities to incorporate them into your creative concepts
- Work with art directors, designers, strategists, producers and other team members to flesh out the creative development of social media ideas and tactical executions
- Develop original concepts and executions with the intention of sparking conversation and engagement in the social media space. These ideas can be published across various social media channels, published through influencer channels, or may transcend social media, digital and traditional advertising.
- Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts, headlines, video scripts, social posts and various other forms of online/offline brand storytelling
- Presenting ideas and production-ready executions to internal and external stakeholders
- In all social media-specific concepts, be sure to understand various execution formats and incorporate creative/copy/layout best practices for various social media networks including Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat, LinkedIn and YouTube
- Write video-based story ideas with the complete understanding of the types of video formats that work best across various social networks (live, long-form, tap for audio, etc.)
- Ensure all creative adheres to existing brand guidelines and social media best practices
- Responsible for editing and proofing materials during all project phases
- Wear multiple hats: depending on your skills, there will be times when you will have to drive the creative process by playing multiple roles throughout concepting and execution phases
CORE REQUIREMENTS

- 4-5 years of copywriting experience in an agency or related field (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)
- Must be self-motivated, hard working, well organized, thick skinned and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables
- Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, trends and philosophies in marketing, technology, interaction and social media
- Must have a portfolio (share anything that conveys the way you think or approach assignments, even if it was never produced; we like chicken scratches).
- Bonus Skills: blogging, journalism, social community management

POSITION PROFILE
We are currently seeking a Vice President – Social & Influencer Strategy to join our Integrated Media team in Toronto. We’re looking for a self-starter who is ready to take the lead in shaping our digital offering and driving the agency’s social and influencer teams forward. As a key leadership position, this person will lead Social & Influencer Strategy for Canada. This role will lead breakthrough work across several major accounts, while driving growth and inspiring digital innovation across the agency.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who is passionate about social media and working with influencers and creators. The position requires expert-level understanding of social platforms and influencer marketing and the role they play in the larger interconnected and ever-evolving media ecosystem.
They have deep experience in the social and influencer space with notable brands and are in tune with emerging trends, as well as the broader cultural and technological shifts taking place in the media landscape. This role calls for curiosity about what comes next in technology, marketing and media, paired with a passion for working with influencers.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to motivate a team, tap into their passion and lead with a sense of integrity, honesty and humility – a leader who can set the big-picture strategy but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into the work.

Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses and target audiences, and – working in close collaboration with our Creative, Insights and Client Experience teams – lead the creation and execution of innovative and integrated social and/or influencer campaigns that drive trackable and meaningful results
- Serve as the primary Canadian social and influencer lead for major global brands –
leading the development of innovative social/digital initiatives from briefing to execution, including campaign strategies, content creation, paid integration and measuring effectiveness/ROI, as well as digital team structure and workflows
- Stay at the forefront of technology trends, new applications and emerging platforms to champion social and digital innovation and continuously further our offerings
- Provide expert counsel to clients and colleagues on social/digital/influencer trends, issues and best practices – act as a thought leader who shares knowledge, expertise and strong counsel internally and externally
- Continuously advance the agency’s influence offering; overseeing key relationships with talent agencies and content creators, and institutionalizing a set of best-in-class tools and processes for identification, contract negotiation, content planning, paid amplification, campaign optimization, measurement and ROI analysis
- Collaborate effectively with inter-agency teams to develop holistic plans and fully integrated strategies for our clients
- Work closely with our Insights team to advance our social listening and analytics offering

REQUIREMENTS
- 12+ years of experience, preferably within an agency environment
- A thorough command of the social media and digital world (from the evolving social web to mobile tools and trends), sophisticated client service and digital communications skills, high energy, and passion for this area of rapid change and innovation
- Expert-level proficiency in social media platforms and inherent curiosity about emerging communities – willing to experiment with cutting-edge platforms and techniques and sell in new ways of thinking to clients
- Deep expertise in building and managing influencer programs, establishing best practices and leading strong influencer marketing teams.
- Understand the paid media environment and how it applies to a holistic social media strategy
- Familiarity with a broad set of social, media and influencer analytics tools; and experience working with an analytics team to measure campaign ROI and generate insights that inform future strategy
- Established relationships with social platforms, partners, influencers and talent agencies
- Outstanding communication skills to successfully present program recommendations and establish trusted relationships with senior clients

Weber Shandwick Boston is looking for a Senior Copywriter, Health to join their growing creative team to work across several high-profile healthcare accounts. They will help to spearhead the creative work on these accounts alongside a team of creative directors, art directors, and designers. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in the digital/social space and be both a conceptual thinker as well as a talented copywriter. Previous healthcare experience required.
Whether driving a big project like a multi-channel campaign or handling a real-time newsjacking opp, we need a nimble copywriter who consistently delivers exciting, culture-first ideas and writing across just about any platform. If there’s a medium that gets people engaged in our brands’ stories, we play in that space. We look for well-rounded, immersive creators who can tell a great story.
The candidate must be comfortable directly engaging with clients and bringing their creative ideas to life. Working with some of the most talented art directors and designers, this candidate must meet the following criteria:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help drive overall creative vision for client projects.
- Craft overall messaging direction while maintaining consistency.
- Ability to flex between short- and long-form copy including concept manifestos, digital/social copy, video script, pitches and a range of campaign support material.
- Provide mentorship of junior writers.
- Take direction and work collaboratively with colleagues across teams.
