We’re looking for a fall intern to work on a range of public affairs clients. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), paid internship that will start in September and go through December. This role is hybrid out of our DC office. 

 

From creative brainstorming to day-to-day execution, Weber Shandwick’s Interns form the foundation of a talented team that generates groundbreaking, award-winning programs. During the program, you’ll work on campaigns for iconic brands and companies you likely encounter every single day.

More about the position:

What you’ll do all day:

  • Create: Craft written communications including media materials and compelling social content
  • Research: Analyze brands using various resources
  • Engage: Share big ideas in brainstorms and with teams
  • Plan: Assist in event coordination and logistics
  • Hustle: Pitch stories to media, develop media lists, track placements, etc.
  • Monitor: Track brands in traditional and social media

 

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Thinking: Do it out of the box. Actually, it’s best if you’re wholly unfamiliar with the concept of boxes
  • Digital: Know all the old school and the latest social media platforms, what brands are doing on them and what they should do next
  • Communication: Speak, write and edit succinctly and compellingly
  • Management: Meet deadlines, put out fires and multi-task. Work fast, and work well
  • Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering clear and precise work is a must
  • Technical: Know Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with platforms like Cision, Muckrack, Meltwater, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, and/or Quid are a plus
  • Dynamic: Ability to work in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Spark: Understand what sets you apart

Requirements:

  • Recent college graduate or related experience
  • Availability: 40 hours a week from September to December

 

Washington DC Salary range: $20.00 – $20.00

We Are Seeking:

We’re looking for a strong, motivated, hard-working and curious Vice President to join our Consumer Practice, working across lifestyle and CPG brands. Basic Qualifications:

  •         At least 8-10 years’ experience in agency, PR/Communications space
  •         Experienced in Integrated Media Strategy and Media Relations, ideally within the consumer or CPG space
  •         Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business Management, or related field

Senior Manager, Client Experience

We are seeking a Senior Manager to join the Corporate Practice in our Chicago office to support a broad range of client and new business needs. In this role, you will be working on programs involving reputation management, earned media strategies, executive thought leadership, internal communications, crisis communications, and integrated communications planning to protect and drive corporate reputation and value proposition narratives a variety of clients and prospects across many industries. The ideal candidate will possess experience and skills across many of the above areas and will be responsible for supporting multiple account teams and collaborating with specialists and subject matter experts across the practice and agency. This role will help lead work from concept to execution, be a primary client contact, and mentor junior talent. The ideal candidate must have strong written and oral communications skills, be able to creatively support corporate reputation and positioning programs that resonate in today’s environment and possess a passion for earned storytelling.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own responsibilities for execution of client programs, budgets, and plans.
  • Contribute to development of plans, translating strategies into tactics.
  • Ensure team deliverables align with strategic plans to deliver strong results across agreed-to communications channels.
  • Create media strategies and oversee pitching of well-developed stories to key national, trade and other media of importance to client goals.
  • Developing executive positioning programs and tactical outputs including media, speaking, awards and social opportunities.
  • Support issues and crises, including media monitoring, creation of reactive statements and materials, preparedness and scenario plans
  • Build strong client and internal relationships, confidence and trust by proactively anticipating and understanding client needs.
  • Leverage industry knowledge and experience to proactively support and recommend new ideas.
  • Contribute to the career growth of junior team members, serving as mentor and role model.
  • Actively participate in team culture, external visibility events and assist with new business.

  • Lead the client service function for program planning, problem solving and strategic counsel
  • Mentor, coach and support team members ensuring constant development of their skills

Skills required:

  • 9+ years of experience in Corporate Communications, Corporate PR, and/or agency experience strongly preferred
  • Must have a strong background in corporate communications
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of reputation management and a working knowledge of traditional and non-traditional media
  • Self-starter, resourceful and bring a passion for driving great results while building strong, productive relationships with clients and your team
  • Collaborative spirit, results driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work against deadlines
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, experience developing and delivering client presentations
  • Experience leading (and winning) new business efforts, including casting appropriate teams, driving deck and presentation development and seamlessly integrating strategy, creative and execution into a compelling proposal
  • A history of success in providing sound creative and strategic counsel to clients and building credibility with senior-level client contacts
  • Demonstrate the ability to think strategically, creatively and holistically about client programs
