Description
We are looking for an experienced Manager (4-6 years of experience) for our Corporate team. We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic self-starter who is ready to be a part of a dedicated local and national team and is passionate about telling stories for clients across multiple industries. We need someone with strong media chops and a proven track record of crafting story ideas that demonstrate a strong understanding of the media landscape and that meet client program objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a team across multiple offices and will be a clear, concise communicator.
Responsibilities
Client & Team Engagement
- Communicate with clients on daily basis
- Provide basic client counsel
- Serve as a key participant in client meetings and presentations, including developing meeting recaps
- Conduct and manage the flow of research and work materials necessary to analyze client issues
- Manage client and team resources and deliverables around major campaigns and initiatives
Account Management
- Strong time and project management skills and an ability to juggle multiple client needs
- Track/enter time with precision and on a daily basis
- Assist with account budget and time entry analysis
Media Relations
- Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audience, and work with strategists and media team members to deliver solutions that meet program objectives
- Monitor media outlets, understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client, and analyze and distill meaningful insights from media coverage
- Generate story ideas and topic angles, draft media materials, and pitch media to land earned coverage
- Develop strategic messaging for clients and support creation of media plans and proposals that take an integrated approach to driving awareness with target audiences
- Provide thoughtful, strategic recommendations for executive thought leadership across owned and earned channels
- Compose basic earned media plans and contribute to plan development processes
- Develop proposals, releases, customer profiles, newsroom blogs, bylined articles, supporting social content and other press materials
- Proof and edit client related documents as needed
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute large scale media programs
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of experience in a communications role (PR agency preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in PR/communications role with expertise in writing, plan development, media relations strategy and execution, event management, speaking and awards submissions, social content, measurement, and monitoring
- 1-2 years management experience leading small groups and projects
- Strong experience with both large-scale and start-up business environments preferred

- Computer proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word

- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work in a team and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing

We Are Seeking
We are seeking an Account Director to join our Media Relations team within our Health Practice. As a Director, you will be responsible for managing client, media and inter-agency relationships, playing a critical role in determining the future and long-term success of our Health practice.
You will be responsible for all aspects of a client relationship and account team as it relates to earned media . You will supervise major pieces of business and team members. NYC Salary range: $115,000 – $135,000

Account Director, Earned Media Strategy

We are currently seeking an Account Director to join our team in San Francisco with in-depth tech and/or telecom experience. In this role, you’ll help lead some of our biggest consumer and B2B technology accounts, while building strong client relationships and driving results.
This role is responsible for driving the success of client relationships; developing a deep understanding of their businesses to develop programs that deliver tangible results for them.
You would be responsible for working with cross-functional teams in the planning and executional oversight of strategic earned media and digital initiatives, including the development of campaigns, content creation and measuring the effectiveness of our initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and manage day-to-day relationships with key clients as their “go-to” at Weber Shandwick
• Own responsibilities for executional leadership of multiple client programs, budgets, timelines and plans
• Assist in the development of long-term client plans and program recommendations, developing budgets and generating recommendations
• Drive development of end-to-end campaign plans, translating strategies into tactics; ensure team deliverables align with strategies
• Proactively support and suggest improvements to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience
• Manage ongoing team resourcing/staffing to ensure successful delivery of work
• Develop and manage timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
• Build and own productive relationships with multiple stakeholders (e.g. brand managers), interagency teams, and a diverse array of agency colleagues
• Maintain profitability and financial health of client relationships
• Motivate the team by bringing a positive, solutions-focused attitude to everything you do
• Lead a high-performing team and mentor junior team members
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• 8-10 years of communications experience, ideally with a focus on technology and/or telecom industries
• Agency experience (strongly preferred) and/or experience with leading tech brands
• Excellent knowledge of the Canadian media and social landscape
• Are both a creative and a strategic thinker
• A track record in building strong client relationships and leading teams that deliver results
• Proven experience building teams, empathetically managing and mentoring junior staff and working as a team-player in a cross-functional setting
