Copywriter
Weber Shandwick Boston is looking for a Copywriter to join their growing creative team to work across several high-profile health, wellness, and consumer accounts. They will help to spearhead the creative work on these accounts alongside a team of creative directors, art directors, and designers. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience and be both a conceptual thinker as well as a talented copywriter.
Whether helping to drive a big project like a multi-channel campaign or handling a real-time newsjacking opp, we need a nimble copywriter who consistently delivers exciting, culture-first ideas and writing across just about any platform. If there’s a medium that gets people engaged in our brands’ stories, we play in that space. We look for well-rounded, immersive creators who can tell a great story.
The candidate must be comfortable directly engaging with clients and bringing their creative ideas to life. Working with some of the most talented art directors and designers, this candidate must meet the following criteria:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help drive overall creative vision for client projects.
- Craft overall messaging direction while maintaining consistency.
- Ability to flex between short- and long-form copy including concept manifestos, digital/social copy, video script, pitches and a range of campaign support material.
- Mentor junior writers.
- Take direction and work collaboratively with colleagues across teams.
- Help develop long-term creative plans and recommendations that meet client objectives.
- Join client meetings, brainstorms and planning sessions for ongoing projects.
- Build and maintain strong rapport with creative team colleagues, client leads and project managers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years of copywriting experience in a related agency or department (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)
- Must have a portfolio.
- This role will be required to work onsite in our Boston office up to two days per week.
- Be curious, self-motivated, hard-working, well-organized, thick skinned and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables
- Knowledge of brand development, marketing/advertising, and the creative process
- Knowing what makes for compelling work – be it on social platforms, in video, or in launch ideas that get talked about, reported on, and pointed to by other agencies with an “I wish we’d thought to do that” envy.

Salary range: $59,000 – $75,000

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Vice President to join our growing earned media Brand group. This role doesn’t come around often and is perfect for someone who can lead a large team, manage multiple brands and clients, and flex across offices in the US and worldwide.
The new leader will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in media relations, nurturing client relationships, acting as the day-to-day senior media counsel for client programs and brand teams, working in lockstep with integrated agency partners and overseeing a high-performing media team with exposure to senior leaders in the agency. We are looking for someone who can:
- Build and nurture client relationships and grow business by providing leadership, direction and strategic guidance to colleagues, day-to-day teams and senior level clients
- Serve as a subject matter expert in media relations and coach/develop a high-performing media team of 10 or more people
- Deliver and nurture strong existing relationships with reporters across media categories
- Possess a deep understanding of the media landscape and understand what it takes for a brand to breakthrough
- Craft narratives to place our clients at the forefront of culture
- Solve problems, handle crises, and make quick decisions with incomplete information
- Ideate and shape brand campaigns that tap into culture, lifestyle and influencer trends
- Draw on our total agency resources (locally, regionally, globally) and bring our clients the best of our network for every project
- Establish a high standard for quality and deliver above expectations, continuing to fulfill the trusted partner role we have built with our clients
- Craft presentations for senior client stakeholders with a persuasive and engaging presentation style
- Actively engage in the culture of the agency to lead by example

The right person for this role has:
- 12+ years of experience in media relations inclusive of agency experience working on integrated communications campaigns
- Deep knowledge of the consumer products space, with experience in – and passion for – telling stories on behalf of lifestyle brands
- Strong selling and negotiating skills, with the ability to bring new/proactive ideas to new and existing clients
- Proven track record of proactively identifying and delivering strategic storytelling opportunities that unlock account growth beyond the current or ‘expected’ remit
- Strong familiarity and expertise related to social, digital and influencer channels that can further fuel earned-driven communications
- Exceptional client service track record with ability to counsel and interact effectively with senior management at client organizations
- Experience managing a large earned media team and the keen organizational skills needed to juggle multiple client needs at once
- Ability to efficiently manage cross-office teams that span multiple cities and countries with integrated account teams preferred
- Ability to be both strategic and hands-on, to flex with clients’ needs
- Success leading teams and developing talent
- An entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership qualities, and a collaborative attitude
- A willingness to challenge how things have always been done, in a desire to continuously improve
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient skills in MSOffice (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)

We are seeking a strong Vice President to join our Healthcare Practice in Chicago. The Vice President will have proven leadership and client service skills, and experience managing integrated communications programs. The candidate will be the day-to-day contact for clients, manage communications across a cross-functional agency team as well as client team, and support flawless execution in the most efficient and productive way. They will display personal ownership and accountability for client engagement, with the ability to cultivate and nurture long-term partnerships and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Manage programs involving reputation management, executive thought leadership, internal communications, crisis communications, and integrated media strategies to drive corporate reputation for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and health association clients and prospects.
- Manage workstreams with a focus on supporting corporate reputation communications and disease awareness campaigns with grassroots, community-level activations.
- Oversee communications programs in support of regulated products like medical devices and pharmaceuticals, including sharing of clinical data and regulatory milestones.
- Under senior guidance, support development of strategic plans and recommendations tailored to clients’ business objectives
- Draft key messaging and execute on materials proposed in plans, including but not limited to enterprise-level content, media strategies and pitches, narratives, strategic decks, and content for branded and unbranded disease awareness campaigns.
- Maintain daily client contact, serving as a trusted resource and advisor.
- Facilitate cross-functional team integration (strategy, creative, integrated media specialists, etc.) to deliver on client plans.
- Act as an effective, two-way translator between clients and teams, actively counseling development of work in the best interest of all parties.
- Proactively support and suggest improvements and new ideas to exceed client expectations by leveraging industry knowledge and experience.
- Have ownership of client financials and profitability.
- Coordinate integration with other agency partners.
- Successfully navigate conflicts across internal stakeholders, clients and agency partners.
- Manage ongoing team resourcing/staffing to ensure successful delivery of work product.
- Actively participate in agency development and assist with new business
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field
- At least 8+ years’ PR/communications experience
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail

Job description:
- Serves as a key integrated team member in support of strategic earned media campaigns, including developing media relations action plans, goals and objectives, media targets, story angles and outreach approaches, in collaboration with and support from senior media relations team members
- Generates story ideas and drafts media materials (e.g., media lists, written content, pitches and pitching reports), conducts outreach, and manages reporter/influencer relationships and media opportunities to land coverage
- Researches media topics, trends, important issues, and reporters in support of new assignments and projects, including new business opportunities
- Attends client events and manages on-site media and influencers at local and national events
- Maintains a keen interest in current news and industry trends; proactively shares insights with teams and clients to inform plans, strategies and activations
- Anticipates and proactively offers solutions to senior team leadership for executional issues specific to assigned programs
- Assists with client communication and manages detailed tasks with the account and earned media teams
- Develops and manages project timelines and weekly action plans to ensure all deadlines on client programs are met
- Identifies the development needs of junior staff and provides opportunities which allow staff members to reach their full potential
Requirements:
- 2 or more years’ experience in public relations at an agency or corporate in-house (healthcare experience preferred)
