A snapshot of the role:

Based in Manchester and working alongside our award-winning PR and digital teams in a fully integrated environment, you play a key role in helping our clients tell their stories visually across multiple channels.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing creative concepts and designs, you regularly flex your creative muscles to deliver high-quality content across a range of graphic design disciplines through a wide sector mix covering food & drink and technology to consumer goods and healthcare.
  • As a senior member of the team you are able to craft, consolidate, communicate and persuasively present creative ideas to clients through brand building, campaign creation, motion and digital design, often working independently and mentoring other junior members of the team. Involving yourself in new business pitches, proposals and presentations is also key to this role.
  • To succeed in this role, you need a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working at a senior level within a studio or an in-house design team, with an eye-catching portfolio of work to showcase. You are invested in the development of junior team members and display your leadership through constructive and fair critique.
  • A strong commercial acumen and ability to ensure profitability, avoiding over-servicing, contributing to the financial success of the business is essential.

This role is ideal for an independent thinker who likes to push creative boundaries, think conceptually, and convey ideas effectively to both the wider team and externally to our clients via new business proposals and pitches. Candidates will naturally have a great eye for graphic design, typography and branding, with an all-round passion for design and the social/digital landscape.

Ideal experience required:

  • Experience working at a senior level in a creative studio or an in-house design team
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite apps (knowledge of Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential) as well as a solid knowledge of the Microsoft apps (PowerPoint, Word)
  • A strong understanding of the animation and the motion design process
  • Proven ability to generate cutting edge ideas to tell visual stories to targeted audiences with the ability to consolidate, communicate and persuasively present creative ideas to clients
  • Strong communication skills, showcasing the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the design team – and the wider agency team – to lead creative campaigns and apply design that stands out and engage target audiences.
  • Investment in the development and mentoring of junior team members, displaying leadership through constructive and fair critique
  • Strong presentation skills, both internal and client-facing, proactively leading creative solutions, and involvement in campaign work.
  • Solid understanding of social platform best practices to lead the creation of compelling and sharable content that consumers will engage with
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for the latest trend or direction in design and branding
  • Solid commercial acumen and ability to ensure profitability, avoiding over-servicing

Working with NGOs, multilaterals, philanthropies, foundations and purpose-driven organizations we partner with our clients to move people from awareness to action. We bring deep subject-matter expertise spanning global health and development from gender equality, infectious diseases, malnutrition and education through to social justice, media freedom, sustainability and the climate crisis.

What will you be doing?

Client

  • Participating in creative campaign development including providing ideas, developing pitch decks and bringing a fresh perspective to the client
  • Conducting in-depth research on social impact topics and analysing findings to draw useful insights for client deliverables and new business proposals
  • Developing written copy and media materials such as client briefings, press releases, media pitches and digital content
  • Working closely with all team members, particularly Associates and Managers to ensure that all of the essential account management materials (e.g. status reports, action lists, call notes, etc.) are accurate and up-to-date
  • Liaising with suppliers (e.g. designers, printers, etc.) often under tight timelines
  • Building up a solid knowledge of clients’ relevant media targets and the type of social impact stories that are reported and why

Internal activities/team management

  • Building and maintaining relationships with people in other departments, such as design, finance, and IT and working effectively with them to ensure account teams are obtaining the information and support they need
  • Demonstrating a genuine passion for social impact issues and bringing this to internal team meetings

 

Ideal experience required:

  • Curious about the world, interested in global trends and sensitive to injustices
  • Previous experience in social impact either within a communications agency or an NGO
  • Previous experience in public relations, communications or marketing
  • Excellent communicator – you excel in both oral and written communications
  • Proactive – you take the initiative to put yourself forward for certain tasks, provide updates to the team and offer suggestions and ideas at meetings
  • Time management – you are able to juggle different clients and team needs at the same time, understanding what needs to be prioritised and flagging if deadlines won’t be met
  • Diligent – you consistently ensure that you review your pieces of work and pay attention to detail. This should be attained even when accounts are busy.
