Weber Shandwick Wins Double Honours At Asia Pacific PR Awards

HONG KONG, 12 November 2009 – Weber Shandwick won two awards last night at the 2009 Asia Pacific PR Awards in Hong Kong. Linda Lee, senior consultant in Singapore, was named Young PR Professional of the Year and Weber Shandwick's Sydney office won Healthcare Ethical Campaign of the Year.

Lee, who recently returned to her native Singapore, previously worked at Weber Shandwick Shanghai driving business development efforts, working on the firm’s Shanghai Expo task force and establishing corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

Weber Shandwick has seen excellent results in the "Young PR Professional of the Year" category, with seven employees from various Asia Pacific offices having been recognized since 2003 - more than any other agency.

"In Asia Pacific, perhaps no honour carries as much promise for our profession as ‘Young PR Professional of the Year,'" said Tim Sutton, chairman of Weber Shandwick Asia Pacific. "Linda is highly deserving of this award, and it is evidence of the strength of talent we aim to nurture in the region.

“It is also wonderful for our Sydney office to be recognized for Ethical Healthcare Campaign of the Year– it’s a testament to the team and the great work they do day-to-day.”

These accolades follow several international awards for Weber Shandwick over the past weeks, with the UK Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) naming Weber Shandwick International Agency of the Year and PRWeek UK naming the firm "International Agency of the Year." And on 30 October, Weber Shandwick's Hong Kong and Singapore offices also brought home top honours in the Financial Services/Investor Relations and Healthcare categories, respectively, at the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) annual Golden World Awards in London.
